Model # EB-STATE3C-02 Store SKU # 1000842103

Most thermostats read the temperature in one place (usually the hallway) which can make other rooms uncomfortable. ecobee3 uses room sensors to deliver the preferred temperature to the rooms that matter. Simple.

  1. Room sensors: Bedrooms, your home office, the family room. Place a sensor in the rooms that matter most to you. We've included 1 sensor and you can add up to 32. Sensors help to address hot and cold spots, improving your home comfort.
  1. Pays for itself: ecobee owners save an average of 23% on heating and cooling annually. Learn more at ecobee.com/Savings.
  1. Control from anywhere: Adjust your ecobee3 on your smartphone tablet or computer. Works with Apple and Android devices and platforms such as Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings, IFTTT and Wink.
  1. Built to last: ecobee is hardwired and doesn't rely on a battery to charge itself, meaning you'll never be left out in the cold.
  1. Smart, really smart: Intuitively understands when to turn on your heating or cooling equipment based on your home's unique energy profile, your schedule, the weather outside, and thousands of other data points to make sure you're comfortable at all times.
  1. Simple Installation: Our mobile step-by-step installation guide gets you setup in about 30 minutes. Just download our app on your iOS of Android device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Easy to use and install! I have a 3 story townhome. The thermostat is placed in a room that gets the most sun in the afternoon. This would cause the rest of the house to be colder or hotter than desired. We have a newborn son and wanted to upgrade to a thetmostat that had sensors - so Ecobee was our obvious option over the Nest. My original thermostat doesn't have a c-wire so I had to use the included PEK kit. It's a bit annoying to install but easy enough to do on your own. The instructions to install it are pretty good and straightforward, so kudos for that. Once installed it's a breeze to setup and easy to use. The problem we had was that my unit was defective (see photos). It had a permanent line right through the screen. I could've returned it to Home Depot, but I'd then have to uninstall the PEK kit and put it all back in the box and get a new one. This would be reallt inconvenient. Instead, I called Ecobee directly and they sent me a full replacement even though I just asked for a new face unit. To my bebe fit, the manufacturer was all out of stock of Ecobee 3s so they sent me an Ecobee 4 at no extra charge! Now that I've had the 3 and 4 ... there's really no difference between them other than built in Alexa and some slight things. The best buy is the Ecobee3 and unless you really want Alexa built in, there's no point in paying the extra $ for the 4. I ordered 2 extra room sensors and the thermostat makes a world of a difference. The baby's room is nice and cozy when it used to be too cold. The dining room above the garage was the same. These sensors do make a huge difference! Definitely recommend this product over the Nest! And there's a $100 rebate! Super easy to use!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use thermostat I like the idea of monitoring my thermostat remotely and also having some intelligence on how often my furnace is running. Ecobee collects a lot of data that you can review online and with the app. I feel it does a great job and was worth the price with the gov't rebate. Setting up schedules was a breeze. Especially the ability to copy to one, two or more days. One touch overrides on the unit and app are also very handy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from definitiely an upgrade from my old thermostat Easy to install and set up. I can control it using "Alexa". The additional sensor helps to eliminate cold spots. Too early to say for sure but I am convinced it will reduce heating costs, especially as a result of the "geo-fencing" function. One drawback, it only allows for one fan speed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as effective as I thought Installation wasn't easy, instructions provided didn't help. Fuse for the furnace electric board was blown few days after the installation. Tech support is helpful though and knowledgeable. WiFi connection on the device keeps breaking several times in a day. Still no resolution from the Eco-bee team on this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product I bought this device to replace the old thermostat that wasn’t that smart. Ecobee can be control via app so I don’t need to come downstairs every time to make a change. The 2nd sensor is installed in 2nd floor and is very accurately providing the temperature read. Overall it’s a very good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great thermostat! I bought this thermostat to try and control multiple appartments on the same furnace. It's doing a great job. I can even control it from a distance so if I'm on holidays I can still monitor the appartments.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ecobee 3 review Purchase online for store pickup in December 2017. Heating system is a hot water electric boiler. This thermostat requires constant 24VAC power to work, either have to attach it to the boielr transformer or buy a seperate power supply. I was able to use the boielr transformer. Easy to set up and get running, app is handy and shows all details. The web interface is clearly laid out and easy to follow. woth whiel investment and a rebate from the local power company to boot! I just wish the remote sensors were a little more economical (2 for $90).

I am wondering how this thermostat works to keep the temperature even amongst rooms?  Does the furnace just keep running until the affected sensor reaches the temperature it needs or does it have a different method?

Asked by: RobD
There's a bunch to it, but it's fairly simple. Some good information - https://www.ecobee.com/ecobee3-wireless-remote-sensors/ The sensors detect if you're in that room/area and what the temperature is there, if it doesn't match the schedule you have it will turn on the furnace. The sensors help detect when you're home or not and can change the schedule to an away setting and back to home when you're back in moving around. So you can have the wakeup/home temp at 23, away temp 18 and sleep temp 19. That way when you're not around or sleeping, the furnace isn't maintaining a high temp. Yes you can do the schedules with most thermostats, this adds more flexibility. You can also configure things away from home, so if it's really cold out you can turn the furnace on before you get home.

With the ecobee3 thermostat  , will it work with a three wire stat,  that controls baseboards heaters. They are controlled by a wall mounted Honeywell stat with a 24volt relay please let me know.

The overview states 1 sensor is included. The promotional photo appears to indicate that 2 sensors are included with this package. Can someone please verify how many sensors are included?

Asked by: cfowler
Hi, I picked this up yesterday (Nov 30 '16) and there was one sensor in the box with the Ecobee. I also received a second box (at the till) that included two more sensors - so 3 sensors in total with this promotion. Works great so far.
