Through infrared technology, SmartSensor detects when a room is occupied and communicates that information wirelessly to your smart thermostat from up to a range of 60 feet prompting automatic temperature adjustments for comfort.

  1. Place SmartSensor in your bedroom and say goodbye to those moments that are either too hot or too cold throughout the night. (Works with ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, Smart Thermostat Enhanced, SmartThermostat with voice control, ecobee3 lite, ecobee4, and ecobee3)
  1. Understands your household comings and goings, saving energy and saving you money by not heating or cooling an empty home.
  1. Youll be able to see the temperature difference and occupancy in particular parts of your home and adjust right from the ecobee app for maximum comfort.
  1. Installation is quick and easy. Place your SmartSensor, magnetically and wirelessly, at least 5ft above the floor on its satin-steel stand or on any wall using the self-adhesive wall mounting brackets.
  1. With an ecobee Smart Security subscription, it can detect unexpected motion. When Smart Security is armed, you get real-time alerts on the ecobee app, so you know whats happening at home when youre not there. Requires ecobee Smart Security subscription.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful for customizing your heating and cooling Great little devices that allow me to have better control over the temperature of our house, making sure to optimize the temperature based not on where the ecobee thermostat is, but where in the house we actually are. Best use case if you like sleeping a bit cooler, but your upstairs is often warmer than downstairs where your thermostat is, you can set it so that at night it's targeting the bedroom to be a certain temp rather than the living room where the thermostat is reading a different temp from what it is upstairs

Put in one of your colder rooms & the thermostat will average things out & make the home much more comfortable. Compensates perfectly for situations where the main or smartsensor thermometer is 'off' due to cooking, solar gain or what have you. This capability was something I was hoping the Ecobee would do - and it has exceeded my expectations. I'm a raving fan and would recommend this setup to anyone.

We installed a high efficiency furnace which had a variable speed fan that wasn't running long enough to warm the furthest rooms in the house. With these sensors the furnace ran for a long enough period of time to heat the rooms with the furthest run of duck work. We can adjust the temperature for the cooling season as well.

However, not enough, and the temperature reading is somewhat suspect. I don't think it is quite accurate. Also, I see occupied rooms showing up as unoccupied and this affects the temperature too.

Also helps to even the temperature from room to room. So far so good. Will have to wait to see how it does in the summer with cooling.
