Rated 3 out of 5 by from Submersible pump I like the simplicity and lightness of the pump but I wish there were steps for use included ( ie full instructions so I wouldn’t have been so nervous about plugging it in) . I am using it to empty my 500gal. Hot tub for cleaning / servicing it . I do not like that there is no “ on / off “ switch: when you plug it in , it just starts !! I am very disappointed that it doesn’t empty the last 1/2 inch of water so I have to mop out the final amount. This last point is my biggest criticism . It takes about 3.5 hours to empty the water before I start mopping .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Drain the pool I used it to drain water from the pool in spring while getting the pool ready for opening. It took hours, but worked very well. If you are in a rush then this is not the pump for you, but if you have the time then I would definitely recommend this for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Submersible pump worked like a charm! I used the utility pump to empty out our in-ground pool for the season, as the system pump decided to break down at the worst possible time. The Submersible pump worked like a charm, and was quiet to boot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Customer Perfectly suited to our needs. Easy to use and worked great. We had to remove water from an outdoor Koi pond and within a short time the water had been drained. Price was reasonable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use It works really well but note the last leg of the water you are trying to pump will not be sucked due to the volume at play. Easy to use and manage. Happy with the purchase.

Would this be okay to keep going for hours at a time? I was going to hook it up with irrigation tubing as part of a homemade solar panel to heat the pool. Can the rate at which it pumps be adjusted?

Asked by: Tech83
we used it for around 8 hours for our pool, and it worked well.

I aaume this pump runs on 110 volts but at what watts/amps?

Asked by: Crowbar
Well, the pump is rated as 1/4hp which is 186W. The box also says the pump is rated at 3.3A. To calculate power we use the formula V*I=P; 120*3.3=396W which is much higher than power rating of the pump. I haven't measured the current draw from the pump, but I would say the draw is less than or equal to 186/120=1.55A. Does this help?

Would this work to pump water from my pool through 200 feet of 1/2" hose with minimal elevation? What about 15 feet of elevation?

Asked by: Teri
Likely yes. I use her to pump out garage sump 2ft elevation, 20ft length 1/2in and she has pressure at the hose outlet almost like standard garden hose.

Could I use this to pump water from my rain barrel attached to a garden hose? If the garden hose wasnt open (actively watering), would that damage the pump motor?

Asked by: Capnbuknutz
This pump can be used to remove water from a rain barrel via a garden hose. However, if a shut-off nozzle is used on the hose then the pump NEEDS to be OFF before "shutting off" the hose end. You can not block the discharged water in the hose without risking damaging the pump.

Would this work to pump water from my pond onto my ice rink (also on said pond) getting tired of lugging buckets out of the hole in the ice

Asked by: Jeff23
This pump is designed to transfer/move water wherever needed. of course the water can not be freezing inside the pump or discharge hose as this could cause damage to the motor.
