[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was initially intrigued by the gallons per hour capacity of this unit. However, the 3600 GPH listed is only for a 0 foot lift, in other words it will only pump this many gallons per hour if it is pumping it horizontally and not vertically. In my case, I needed at least an 8 foot lift. The chart on the box indicates that for a 10 foot lift, I will get 2280 GPH but this should be sufficient for my purposes. You want to be sure to check total lift and the flow rate to make sure it is compatible for what you need. Also, my basin is lined with gravel so installation recommends the unit be placed on 2 bricks since it must be placed on a flat surface. If you’re basin already has a flat surface this would not be necessary. Since this unit has a tethered float, you will also need to make sure there is adequate clearance for the float to rise in order to activate the pump. It is recommended that the basin be at least 18 inches in diameter. After placing the pump in the basin you will want to manually lift the float to make sure there are no obstructions and that it rises freely. As we are currently in a drought situation, it may be a while before I can test the actual performance of the pump but based upon the features provided, I’m sure I will be pleased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great, easy-to-install, lightweight pump. I found this pump to be way easier to install than the older type that have the motors outside of the basin. I just attached the ejection pipe and then lowered the pump until it touched the floor of the sump basin. I lowered the cover, installed the check valve, connected the rest of the tubing to the outside and tested it. It worked like a charm and I could scarcely hear the unit start and stop. Great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this sump pump to replace my existing pump. Installation is straightforward but is limited to pits that are 18" or larger - check the size of your sump pit prior to purchase. The cable length is adequate and made of insulated rubber. I have a Digital Life water sensor next to my pit to let me know if the pit is overflowing - a nice upgrade for future pumps would be an WiFi connection alert you of failure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My basement is usually dry, but several years ago, I received 2-inches of water that cost me thousands of dollars in repairs to my then, newly finished basement. The kick in the pants is that all the headache and expense the flood caused could have been avoided if only I’d had a sump pump installed. A sump pump is cheap insurance against flood damage. For a typical installation, you will need a connector for a 1-1/2 NPT discharge, a length of straight PVC pipe, a couple of 90-degree elbows, PVC cement, as well as a nearby receptacle for power. I also would recommend a union fitting installed in the discharge line, a few feet above the sump pump, to make it easier to service the sump pump if the need should arise. The tether float is very flexible, but requires about 9-inches of clearance so it will lift and power on the sump pump. Although, at only 1/3HP, this sump pump seems small, it is rated for 3600 GPH @ 0-degree discharge, which is as high or higher a discharge rate than many 1/2HP pumps. I am pushing water 10 feet up and out the side of my foundation wall, where it discharges to an underground catch basin 25-feet away from the house, so the GPH rate is only around 2300 GPH, but that is still quite a good flow rate, and is more than sufficient to keep up with incoming water from my perimeter drainage system. This sump pump is constructed of thermoplastic and aluminum, which unlike cast iron, will not rust over time. There is no battery backup on this unit. An adapter is included to provide for a discharge connection to a 1-1/2-in. NPT or 1-1/4-in. NPT drain pipe. The larger diameter pipe is recommended because it’ll allow for more rapid displacement of a higher volume of water without clogging. I’d also recommend installing an in-line check valve (available at The Home Depot – Model #SPC150) to relieve back pressure and prevent water from coming back into the basin. A garden hose is too narrow and won’t work with this sump pump, even with the adapter. The price of this pump is less than other similarly-sized pumps, but the quality and performance of this one is better than many of those. If you have a finished basement as I do, and have suffered damage due to flood water as I have, you definitely should have a sump pump installed, and you should consider replacing that pump every 3-5 years, depending on usage. You get a lot of peace of mine for the low price point of this sump pump.

Can a garden hose be attached to this pump?

Can a garden hose be attached to this pump?
Asked by: Lisa
Jenny, This pump is designed with a discharge of 1-1/2" and if you reduce that down to 3/4" (garden hose) then you'll be putting a lot of back pressure on the pump. So that application is NOT recommended for this pump.

Asked by: anon
The "smallest" width is approximately 6". However, it is recommended for spaces 18" or above. Using the pump is a smaller space could hinder performance.

Is this pump rated for outdoor cold weather Canada application?

Asked by: Mike
Mike, The ECO-FLO 1/3 HP sump pump will function in weather ABOVE freezing. Water that is close to freezing or "slushy like" could create vortex issues which would not allow the pump to function correctly. Thanks.
