Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exact replacement for my old Kenmore It took me longer to get my old unit unhooked and dragged out of the house then it did to get this hooked up. It matched up perfectly and is very easy to use. So far it works great and I am very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible I love my new water softener. I could stay in the shower all day. I never have to use lotion on my body anymore. In addition, great customer service!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product and people I talked to two representatives, both of whom were very courteous, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I ordered on line and ordered the optional valve to use with my old plumbing. They sent the wrong so I had two of the new style. Ruined one by stripping plastic threads, my bad. Don't use Teflon tape. Otherwise, install and setup was very easy. I replaced a sears unit that was identical except for a overflow tube on the new one. Very happy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from needed new one Unit was filthy inside when it arrived. Plastic shavings and pieces of plastic. Had to be vacuumed out. Brace pieces inside tank were not in properly and let tank and brine well shift. Poor quality control. Bypass valve had stripped threads on one of the fittings. Luckly I had kept a spare from another change out. Currently not sure if unit is working properly or not. Doesn't seem to start a recharge automatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly an exact fit for our 19 year old Kenmore. I started having water quality problems in March 2020. I tried to fix this and that to get the Softener to work. After taking the valve apart for the second time, I found that the resin bed was beyond repair, rotar seal had worn down completely, , and the float and float seat needed replacement. I did not call Kenmore parts for the replacement because I am sure the costs would be 75% of a New P31 with the Welcome10 discount. I ordered the P31 on Thursday June 4, 2020. New P31 arrived on June 12, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. I read the install manual carefully. Husband and wife installed the P31 in a couple of hours. It did fit exactly as promised as a Kenmore to EcoPure replacement. We are older and hope the new machine will last as long as we live here. Already bought the EcoPure resin cleaner from Amazon.com. We are a solar log home with back up propane generator. We cannot use the new electric devices that are available today. The new machine uses 0.1 Amps like the old Kenmore. Truly a one for one exchange. Thank you Eco Pure. (We wished we had not wasted 2.5 months trying to get a 19 year old Kenmore to work.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is living up to all my expectations. Time will tell those qualities have dependability and durability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Kenmore replacement My Kenmore softener was 19-years old and I replaced it with this EcoPure. The features on this model are nice and installation is easy. I DID NOT need the additional bypass kit because the unit comes with one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Worked perfectly as a drop in replacement for our 8 year old Kenmore water softener. Required no new plumbing, although I did replace the bypass valve. Display/Keypad is essentially the same. Believe they are made by the same manufacturer.

Will the unit be sufficient for a water hardness rating of 101? What is it rated to?

    Asked by: JCrookbain
The EP100 water softener is rated to handle hardness up to 95 grains per gallon. If the # you gave is given is ppm or Parts Per Million divide your # by 17 = 6 grains per gallon, in which case this water softener would be sufficient. If you have further questions, please call the EcoPure Water Line at 1-800-693-1138.

Why is there little or no water in tank sometimes?

    Asked by: Anonymous
There should only be water in the tank during/after a recharge. The water only runs through the resin column before going back into your home's plumbing. The tank is used for removing the hard minerals from the resin column roughly once a week.

I had this product installed but made my water turn orange brown why?

Had them install this product but i had to get them to uninstall the following night because it had turned my water orange brown and not sure why. They said it would clear up overnight but it did not so i had them uninstall the product. My water was clear before the installation.
    Asked by: Anonymous
You have to run the water through all your pipes after installation for some time for the water to clear. After the first recharge everthing should be fine. It may also be rust from your hot water tank which will also clear.

How much water does this waste when it regenerates?

I found out that the one I was going to buy used 22.5 GALLONS ! (100 litres) Everytime it regenerated itself (1 cycle...it does this several times a week)... WAAAY 2 much to send to the septic (always a bad idea) Local septic guy here said it might be alright if its under 5 gallons.Running a seperate line thru the foundation 4ft below grade to avoid freezing and all the drain rock and Big O pipe...away from septic and prob 100ft from house is a MAJOR PIA...Nevermind the amount of water wasted and all the salt that pollutes the environment...Ive heard of these Saltless Softeners, would like some professional feedback on those.
    Asked by: Anonymous
Saltless water softeners really do not actually soften the water, but rather act as a descaler and prevent the lay-down of hard water deposits in piping by keeping the hardness dispersed in the water and inhibiting lay-down. A water softener like this GE actually involves ion exchange which removes the hardness (calcium and magnesium) from the water and replaces it with other cations (typically sodium, but often also potassium). Regenerations do take a lot of water, but depending on the hardness of your water, this probably won't be required more than once a week.
