[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These filter housings appear to be heavy duty and the 1" threaded ports are substantial, I have installed other brands in the past that split where the pipe threads into the housing which can be an expensive mistake. This filter is priced about the same or a little higher than competitors brands. The choice of available filter media make these an excellent choice for multi filter installation. The box comes with a housing wrench , mounting bracket and screws . Be generous with teflon tape when installing fittings. These filters are heavy when full make sure to use support bracket. I installed two, using a pleated filter for the primary and a carbon.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so happy to be able to not have to worry about my tap water. Here where I live in NYC the tap water tastes like metal pipes. It is noticeable and tastes like you are drinking metal so I looked for something to alleviate this problem and with this product I was able to do that safely and easily. Once it had been installed I felt it was safe to drink the tap water now, and not have that tin metal taste as if I was drinking aluminum foil water. It was installed as soon as I got it and I am so glad I did. the price of bottled water was unsustainable.

We are on well water and were using the smaller size filter system and filters. We have two in series, the first being a pleated paper filter element and the second being a carbon element. Supposedly both filter to the same micron but the secondary carbon gets just a bit less material than the first, usually iron. The larger size of this filter is nice as it provides more water flow with the larger surface area of the filter. This provides better flow through out the house. A word of caution, this has a pressure release valve and bypass lever. Whichever filter system you purchase, make sure it has both. It greatly simplifies filter changes.

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! (Ref.http://www.homedepot.com/p/EcoPure-High-Flow-Whole-Home-Water-Filter-System-with-Pressure-Release-Button-EPWO4/301529638) Installation shall allow for easy removal and replacement of filter and cartridge. Make sure shut off valves and unions are provided on both sides of filter, also I recommend a bypass valve. Depending on the location of the cold water supply line, the installation of the filter may require a professional to do it since some of these pipes may be hidden inside walls.

It filters both large and small particles, keeping the water my family drinks cleaner and safer. Usually when you have these filters on your house and have to replace the internal filter, it costs quite a bit. But the replacement filter packs for this filter are very reasonable. The filter is easily installed and runs smoothly. I would recommend this filter to everyone! Seriously!

At first I was using it as a whole house filter with a carbon filter. But with my water, I had to change the filter every month or so. Now I an using it as a pre-filter for a large carbon filter rated for 5 years. With a cotton baffle filter, it does a great job of catching rust, and other large particles. I change filters every 6 months now, and the filters are a lot cheaper then the carbon filters I was using. When you are changing filter cartridges, you are going to want a pail under the filter. Both for the water when releasing the pressure, and for what you spill when removing the lower housing.

But for filtering your water, it does a nice job. In most cases, the filtration system is easy to install. You will need 2 tees and 3 valves to do the job right. I did it in copper, so I also needed 2 1" sweat to male NPT adapters. The reason you will want 3 valves is so that you can insulate the filter and allow water to bypass it. It makes it much easier to change filter cartridges, and still have water. The filter will accept different filters, depending on your needs. The basic sediment filter is the cheapest, and lasts the longest. Ones that remove bad tastes or smells cost more, and need to be replaced more often. The unit does NOT come with a filter, so be sure to get one when you get the filtration system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from complete drop in pressure after installation Installed this at my cottage to prevent sediment from the lake affecting the flow through my tankless hot water heater. installed it on the main supply line to the cottage after the pressure tank (which holds steady at 60 psi). Water pressure into the cottage dropped to a trickle immediately so I had to remove it the next day. consulted a plumber as well on installation and all was fine - this filter is a complete waste of money especially if you are looking for high flow rate.

It is just the housing, home depot has different filters available. I use two housings in line, primary filter is for sediment ( dirt, rust and sand) and the secondary filter Carbon Block is NSF certified to reduce chlorine taste and odor.

When the filter is new there will be minimal pressure loss. As the cartridge removes sediment from your water supply you will start to notice a loss of pressure, this is a good indication that it's time for the filter to be replaced.

It is recommended the filter be installed in a vertical position to make changing of the filters easier. Water can still pass through the system if installed on it's side, but replacing the filter will become difficult.
