Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Taste Great! I have just installed this RO to our kitchen sink. I'm your DIY person, reading the instruction was very clear and picture(diagram) is great. I love the idea that they have the tube colors coded to match within the instruction and on the product box. This really make it very easy and exemplary to install the RO. It was also great that they provided the needed parts to connect with existing plumbing. You don't have to run up to Home Depot and buy the needed parts. What I was really surprise that after the RO purging was completed, I tested the water PPM was less than 25PPM. WOW.... My fridge with water filter installed has 450 - 500PPM. What a BIG difference.

Because this was a replacement, the installation went smoothly as I already had the connections to the house systems. I used the "alternate" drain method to avoid all the faucet problems you read about. It does make water a lot quicker than my older unit. I haven't checked into finding replacement cartridges yet, but the easy on - easy off is more promising than the cheaper filter-in-a-sump design. Even tho it is a higher capacity than my older unit, it takes up less space under the sink; a pleasant surprise. It's been in for one month and doing fine.

Other than cosmetic differences, it is the same unit. Our Kenmore had began to leak in the upper area where the filters and media are mounted. This unit was a direct replacement, allowing us to use the replacement filters and media we had purchased for the original unit. Since it is the same system, all the existing lines disconnected from the original and were simply reconnected to the new Ecopure unit. We used the existing storage tank, lines and tap. It provides the same clear, fresh pure water that we enjoyed prior to replacement and allows the existing filters and media to be used

We had a Water Softener already but the water was undrinkable even after passing through the fridge filter. Someone in town recommended this model and installed it for us. Instantly the best water we've ever had from any tap, anywhere! The savings in bottled water will easily pay for this in the 1st year. The taste and clarity is as good or better than any bottled water.

We live on an acreage outside of Calgary and our well water is very soft and contains an assortment of chemicals I'd rather not ingest. This system cleans the water effectively and is providing us with some great drinking water. Love the tank system as it provides much needed water pressure. The system is constructed well and is fairly easy to set up (essentially plug the coloured cables to the applicable coloured holes throughout the system). Love the fact this could be installed in a location other than under the sink, however, because time was of the essence I opted for under the sink.

I was so happy to read all the positive reviews on this RO, that my wife and I went out and bought one. It was cost effective and worked great for almost a year. Just recently (after about a year of owning it) a crack developed in the casing around the blue and yellow quick release tubes. We now have a major leak under our sink and big mess on our hands. I would strongly advise against buying this RO system.

per gallon of ro water made how much is wasted? what ratio is it?

I can't seem to find an answer to how many gallons of water are wasted per gallon of production. I'm curious to see how much for water bill purposes

This unit produces at a ratio of, approximately, one to three. Or, 1 gallon of great tasting water to 3 gallons of "waste water" that is basically regular water without chlorine or particulates. This water can be used for gardening, cleaning or washing. I live in Florida so I'm working on getting this "waste water" into my flower bed as the drain tube from the "waste water" has no pressure - it's all gravity feed. I'm a Professional Engineer and as you, was concerned with the "costs of operation." Besides the obvious environmental advantage of not having to buy plastic bottles with dubious water content, the cost of a gallon of tap water, here in Florida, is, approximately, $0.025/gal. So, running my unit costs me $0.10 for every gallon of drinkable water. I'm saving about $0.90 each time I don't buy a gallon of plastic bottled water from a dollar store at $1.00/gal. If you do "amortization" or "ROI" you'll "pay back" your RO unit in less than a year, including the 6 months Filter cartridge and the RO cartridges changes.

When installing can you also install the refrigerator line for the icemaker and water

I believe you can but you will need the T connector from Home Depot or hardware store. The T connector is not provided. FYI... I was planning to do it in the future so I can get some filtered ice from the fridge.

Whats the TDS ratio ?

The ratio will depends on your location and water contamination. Before my Ecopure was installed, I tested the water from my fridge and tap water, it was only a percentage differences PPM of 300 -350. The allowable drinking water from tap is 200 - 400 ppm. After installation of Ecopure, I was getting 10 - 30 ppm. It's a big difference.

When installing a dedicated faucet you typically need to drill in to the counter-top, unless you have a pre-existing hole such as a sprayer or soap dispenser. If you are able to install a dedicated faucet, this system will work in an apartment setting.
