This Emerson is a very nice replacement. It isn't expensive and gives you 7 day customization for scheduling your heat and cooling needs. The installation is very straightforward. Mount the bracket on your wall. Make sure to put the right mount in the center of the hole. This will give you the option to level the unit, using the level within the back bracket. Connect the wires and turn back on the power to your system. The unit comes with 2-AA batteries so no extra supplies are needed.

The numbers are large and easy to read with the high contrast. The blue back lighting gives it a high end look. The buttons are very easy to read and push It takes batteries so you do not need to worry about an additional wire to the control panel. It has a battery indicator so there's no guessing when you have to replace the batteries. The box indicates that it will save you money on the utility costs. I have found that it does not short cycle like my previous thermostat which in turn will provide better efficiency Overall a nice affordable upgrade

Easy to install with an extensive set of instructions. I installed this on a Heat Pump and found it to be fairly straightforward after going through the book. Had one question and called there tech support on a Saturday for the answer. Works great! Easy to program! In my case I really did not know whether I had a one or two stage heat pump. If you can determine this prior to purchase it would save a lot of time. This unit will operate on almost any heating cooling system except baseboard heating. Package lists what is inside, but directions talk about wire markers which are not included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable and effective replacement I was concerned that my old thermostat wasn’t reading the temperature correctly and my house temp would fluctuate. This thermostat read the temp immediately and responds to the program or manual overrides immediately. The screen is easy to read and program. I had a friend help with installation but it went smoothly for him. My only complaint is the “clicking” it makes when turning on and off but as I read up it seems that’s a fairly common thing. I’m ok with it as the thermostat is not in or near a bedroom. Finally, it is much smaller than my old clunky one which means I now have to paint the wall but I had plans to anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a very easy thermostat to replaced. Just follow the instruction in the book. Very basic and straight forward installation. I like the fact that I can set each day differently. My schedule changes from time to time and this makes it easy to reprogram those days. The display is easy to read at night once, I've set the back light to be on all the time. Another nice feature is being able to set the heating/cooling to auto. That way when we have a cold night or hot day in the spring or fall the system will automatically do whats needed. This feature is not on a lot of thermostats.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy install, easy program [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This a very simple device to install, less then 20 minutes including cleanup, programing and flipping breakers. (I highly recommend shutting off the breaker for the AC, if you short the wires for a long time you could burn up the transformer, my brother did this a few years ago. Most people may not want to do this as it is low voltage, what could it hurt, not you but why risk burning up the transformer?) Nice touch is the level build in and the large easy to read display as well as the light button on the top of the unit. I did not open the instruction book or the website as it is so simple to install.

I installed it upstairs and it only took about 15 minutes start to finish. The directions are easy to follow and there is an installation wizard on the internet if needed. The display is large and easy to read. The operation is simple. Much easier than some of the smart thermostats I have installed. And it is accurate and controls temperature well. It was also easy to enter programs for controlling temperature at different times of th day and on weekends. A very nice thermostat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thermostat works well. One main problem. The thermostat did not have all the same terminals as the Honeywell it replaced. I have only four conductor wire from the thermostat, I need five and Honeywell made up for that by using one wire to act as two, but had a separate terminal not found on the new one. I did not know how to wire it, and tech support was no help, so I called a local heating guy for help. That ended up costing more than the thermostat. He changed it to a four conductor system in the furnace. The difference that it makes is it doesn't have a common wire which means the thermostat runs solely on batteries. He said the batteries should still last fairly long. While the new thermostat works well, it ended up being very expensive.

Measurements for the Emerson Premium 7-Day Programmable Digital Thermostat is 3 3/4" Width X 5 7/8" Long X 1 1/8" depth from the wall. The backing plate which hides the hole in the wall measures 5" width X 6 7/8" Long.

Can it be set to automatically go from heat to cool?

I have this model. It can not be pre-programmed to go from heat to a/c. It can be pre-programmed to go from a-c to heat. One must manually trigger the unit to heat. One must manually trigger the unit to provide a/c. There is a selection button. You have three unique selections with those button. These selections are heat - off - a/c. You must manually depress the button once to transition to another selection.

Yes, this is one of the main reasons I purchased the Emerson, model UP310 programmable thermostat. It is very accurate compared to room temperature. However, you can adjust +/- 5 degress.
