    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Battery use seems extreme I bought this thermostat because it was the best value for the price but the setup process was infuriating. First it didn't work at all.... No display at all. Ends up they included COMPLETELY DEAD batteries. Ok, so switched batteries out and the display works but maddening trying to set it up because there's no wifi icon that's supposed to be there. Nothing when I press the button to setup. No setup/connect initiated and no options. Just works manually. Grrr. Eventually realized it's because there were only 3/5 bars showing for the battery power so wifi won't work. So I put new batteries in, everything ran smoothly, and I'm delighted with my thermostat.... For about 3 weeks! Then it goes offline again despite there being 3 bars of battery power showing! Instructions say if battery shows half full, replace them. Seriously??? I'll be replacing batteries more than once a month?? If that's the case, this is no longer a good value in the long term at all. Really disappointed. Not sure if there's something wrong with this one (the batteries don't fit tightly in the slot either. They are loose. Typically Panasonic and Energizer AA batteries) but if this is what I can expect, I'm considering returning it despite it being a good thermostat otherwise.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Thermostat I'm very happy with this thermostat, after I finally got it working. What I found lacking is information on connections when installing with a heat only gas furnace that was a two-wire only control. No clear indication of which terminals to use, although with research I was able to determine which to use. I had to install new wiring to add C-wire from my furnace to the thermostat. My furnace has a fan which draws air in for combustion and forces exhaust outside (I think it's a high-efficiency furnace). The problem I encountered was that when the thermostat switched OFF, a few seconds later the furnace combustion fan turned on, ran for a few seconds, then turned off - this cycle would continue without stopping (until the room temperature dropped and the thermostat switched to furnace ON). It seemed there was enough 'leak current' to cause this to happen. I called tech support who suggested my unit may have a defect and I should exchange it. I live two hours away from closest Home Depot (in Sudbury) and considered the possibility that a replacement unit might act the same way and I would spend 4 - 5 hours for no gain. I decided to try adding a relay between the thermostat and the furnace (found a suitable one on Amazon) with the thought that a trickle current through the thermostat wouldn't be sufficient to energize the relay coil and cause the same fan cycling issue. Relay worked; all is good. I have had no issue with connecting to or staying connected to WiFi. Programming and control from smartphone are simple and excellent for temperature adjustments.

I'm sure if you are tech savvy you could connect to internet, but again I had help. I have not had any problems. I was able to easily check and control when on holidays. The screen is very simple and clearly marked, making it easy for anyone to control manually.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy install but maybe a faulty unit? We purchased this with the Enbridge rebate but unfortunately returned it a couple of weeks later. The unit was easy to install and we had no issue with wireless set up. However we were finding our house colder than usual when set to our normal temperatures. We kept adjusting and still found it cold. We finally put a thermometer next to it and it was over two degrees off. The wifi wasn’t important to we returned to a programmable Honeywell and woke up warm today.

The tech service number was a great help and stepped me through to correct why I couldnt get it connected. Basically, I needed to turn off the 5G network on my phone so that only the 2.4G wifi was on.Once I did that it worked perfect. I have multiple daytime schedules running. I am able to change the temperature remotely outside of the home. I dropped the temperature to 15C while I was on vacation and then set it back to normal when I got back from the airport. It is compatible with Alexa. I can give Alexa voice commands to change the temperature.

    Why are batteries required, why not use the power source. A coin battery type for memory backup would be a better option.

    Hello K9Bob. Thanks for your question. The Wi-Fi radio needs a strong battery backup. The thermostat uses the common wire as power and if one is installed then the batteries are only back up.

    I'm considering purchasing the Sensi. Please let me know if the Geofencing feature can be turned off and if there are any motion sensor features that turn the display on as you approach. Thanks. Jay S

    Hello Jay S, Geofencing is one of two scheduling options. You can choose to use geofencing, regular scheduling, or turn all scheduling off and hold a specific manual set point. We do not currently have any kind of motion sensor with our product.

    display shows heat-off-cool. i have 2 stage ( h/c ) heatpump with aux and emer electric backup heat. will device work on my system? ( current, old therostat has heat-emerg-off-cool with 4 light area for pump, aux, emer, and malf )

    can you manually raise or lower the temperature from the thermostat or do you have to always do it from your smart phone?

    I have the sensi thermostat and it is going through the batteries within 2 months. noticing in the thread the stat should work off the power from the furnace. What needs to be done in the stat for this to happen?

    You will need to have the wiring checked between your furnace and the thermostat. We had that same issue and found out the guy who installed our furnace had not wired the thermostat to the furnace correctly.
