Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product! We used this product behind a gas fireplace in our kitchen and found it so easy and beautiful, we ended up using it in the living room as well as in our cottage. The project is very easy to install and looks much more expensive because it "fingers" into the next piece. The colors are beautiful and really go with any decor.

I am considering this for my new fireplace but have heard that some batches contain a lot of pale pink— which I don’t want. Is this true?

Asked by: car0419
Yes, there is pink in the rocks.

can this be installed on an exterior application?

Asked by: Handy Andy
I’m not an expert but am reasonable. These are solid stone with three rows glued together so the stone being by outside is not an issue and if you use mortar it basically is a masonry application. These same type are often seen on fire tables. I would say just make sure you fasten them with something good for outside.

What is the recommended blade for cutting this product?

Asked by: Greendogg
Stone can be cut on a wet saw with a continuous diamond blade. A wet saw makes the cleanest cut and will assist in keeping the dust down when working. Be sure to wear eye protection and a mask.

how do you do outside corners? would i need to cut corners on 45 degree angle or just overlap the face panel with side panel?

Asked by: Doc1
Corners can be made by cutting a panel down the center and mitering to form a corner piece. Overlapping will not work, as the thickness of the panel is not the same as the amount of offset in the step.

For a fireplace wall, 1) can I install directly on the drywall or does this need a Plywood backing? 2) If we put a plywood backing, can 1/4" ply be sufficient? how would I hide the edge so that the plywood does not show? thank you

Asked by: Dekappitation
Any tile or stone should only be installed on exterior grade plywood, as regular plywood will mold over time with the water from the thinset. Drywall is suitable for heights up to 10 feet (add extra screws to be sure it is securely mounted). For heights over 10 feet, use cement board. Install with a modified thinset for best adhesion.

Can I install this as a backsplash with just thin set and no grout?

Asked by: Sarah88
This is a a dry stacked item and does not require grouting. Be sure to complete a dry layout with all of the material before installing for best blending of this natural stone product. Be sure to seal with a water based impregnating or penetrating sealer without enhancer to help avoid staining.

Where do i find information on how to install Costa Ledgestone on an outside wall?

Asked by: Sylvia
Installation on an exterior depends greatly on the substrate you are bonding too. A premium thinset should be used - check with the brand manufacturer of the mortar for recommendations regarding exterior installations.
