Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not bad product. Serves it's purpose. Had to place something on both sides to make sure it did not topple over. I like it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Motor is great, impeller prone to failure If you have a backup pump or a float alarm, this is an expensive pump which works well - right up to the point when it doesn't. I've had two of these fail where the impeller isn't pushing any water but the pump is running. The base is all plastic and there doesn't seem to be any way to open it to try and make repairs. Since the pump is relatively inexpensive, I've just learned to keep a spare on hand to swap in when it fails the next time. The float mechanism is simple and fairly foolproof, however it can be interfered with if the pump moves up against the wall of your pit or another object is near the top. It moves a good volume of water when it's working, although we only have a four foot lift to the drain in our home. You will want to have a foot valve attached to the bottom of your connecting house, which is not included with the pump.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It is Ok pump Hi, I got this pump as a replacement for my old one (small debris fall inside and damaged bottom plate). What can I tell, it is a solid and relatively quiet pump. The only negative part is electricity consumption. I used 900VA UPS with old 1/3HP Flotec pump - it worked great, but not with new Rigid 1/3HP pump. Motor start consumption is too high and my UPS is switching off. I had no other choice but to fix my old pump and put is as a backup pump together with this new one. Don't buy it if you planning to use UPS. I suspect 1/3HP and 1/2HP Rigid pumps are using the same motor, but different pump part, which provides no benefit to us, customers. If to compare Flotec and Rigid pumps of the same HP rating, Flotec is 15% faster than Rigid (I did several measurements with the same settings on both pumps, Rigid and my old Flotec). So decision is all yours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good We had flooding in the basement last spring - the first time in the 15 years we've owned this home. We bought a portable (plug-it-in to start it and unplug it to stop it) model which did the trick for that situation but, this spring, we started having the same problem so I had to purchase an automatic type of sump pump. After learning how this thing works (adjusting the rubbers on the vertical rod), I've now got a pump that does the trick really well. At first, though it started really well, I thought that it wasn't going to stop because when the water was down really low, the pump wasn't stopping even though it was sucking air. So, I put a small weight on the pole itself so as to trigger the "off" switch. Later, I noticed that the problem was that I had put the vertical rod guide on the pole of the pump improperly which made the vertical rod hang at an angle. I adjusted the rod guide so as to let the vertical rod hang freely and, lo and behold, no weight needed. Good pump.

How many cyles is the pump good for?

I have this pump protecting my basement and its sump hole is small and we have had a un-melted record amount of snow. Now its melting its on/off cycles are short and close together should I upgrade to another pump?
Asked by: Anonymous
The more water you get into the basin the quicker the pump will turn on, etc. The cycles can be a little more rapid during flooding or large rain storms. Thanks.

Which check valve at home depot will fit this?

Asked by: Anonymous
The check valve should be the same diameter as the pump discharge, 1-1/2 inch. The exact check valve will depend on what type of pipe / hose you are using for the discharge (PVC or galvanized pipe, hose, slip fit, threaded or barbed fittings). Thanks, Everbilt Customer Service
