Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better then I had expected I just bought this and put it up. It took maybe about five minutes for it to be put up. It worked perfectly for our needs. Our apartment complex does not have screens and I saw these at another place by us. I think ours is a little bit sturdier then the one that someone else has and I also got a baby gate because we have two pets that goes in front of the screen. I love that it is easy to put up and most likely to take down too. I didn't think it was going to fit the door frame and while it could have been a little bit longer (there is a slight gap) I think this will work perfectly for those afternoons when we want the door open and cool air in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected We bought this to keep out the flies and allow our animals to go onto our enclosed deck. Expansion rod holds tight. Sides attach easily with zelcro tabs. The only issue I have is the magnets are so strong to reclose the door when we walk through the cats and small dog had difficulty getting through the bottom area of the door. We solved the problem by placing the screen a bit higher in the doorway. (There are two tubes at the top to put the rod through for adjustment of height.) Still keeps the flies out and looks great. No more destroyed screens from cats wanting in and climbing the screen door. Great purchase.

It allows for very convenient ingress and egress without interference as required by local safety codes. The screen remains closed in significant winds as are common in the mountain resort area where it is installed. Overall a very effective product. Some caveats during installation are indicated though. Make sure that the weighted bottom swings freely. When installed, just a tiny space is required, but without the space the screen will not close reliably. Additionally, securing the screen to the door jams on each side using a staple gun gives a significant improvement in performance instead of using the Velcro retainers. Install the product with these guidelines and you will not be disappointed.

I am using this screen door as a pet pass through and it is placed in one half of a French door that opens to our back yard. The adjustable spring rod fits well between the door frame and the companion door which is kept stationary. I put up and take down this removable screen daily in cool weather so the ease of use is a real plus. The breezes come in and the bugs do not! When not in use it can be folded up or rolled up around the rod that comes with it, and put out of sight nearby for quick set up. It is well made and the material is hardy, a heavier fabric screen. It has a weighted flat bar at the bottom of each fabric panel which guarantees that it will hold its shape and cover the door properly. Should the spring rod eventually wear out it is an inexpensive item found everywhere. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from screen size inconsistent I needed a 36x84" screen so this looked like a great deal. The kit includes everything you need, screen, spline, roller. However, I purchased two screen kitsand each screen was cut to a different size. The first was only 82" long, the second was 83.75" . I wouldn't recommend this kit if f you have an 84" screen door as there seems to be some inconsistencies in the product. If you need a smaller size, it might work well for you.

We have previously purchased another version of this (something that we saw on TV), and it only lasted a couple months. This particular brand and version is very high quality and is MUCH nicer than the others out there. Installs within minutes, easy to use, and keeps the bugs outside where they belong! The strip at the bottom of the screen helps to ensure the screen always closes. This was a problem with the other brand we had previously, as the dogs would trip over the bottom of the screen and it wouldn't always fasten shut with the magnets. This Phifer brand is very well thought out and works exactly as advertised. The screen is also very high quality. Five star product for sure!!!

When first introduced a few years ago the quality was a little better but got to the point where only lasted one season before getting ripped, losing magnets, etc. Was looking for the replacement and read other reviews. On the money, this is a GREAT product for an easy fix to let dogs in and out without the bugs. Much higher quality with only slight increase in price over the ones advertised on TV and in magazines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How to USE this tool First time installing a screen. I was installing a pet-resistant screen which some reviewer found difficult to install. I wanted to leave some tips that might benefit for fast and easy installation. 1) Don't use the old rubber spline, it's much harder to re-install because it loses its elasticity with time. Buy new rubber spline, it's inexpensive. 2) Don't try to push the rubber in with one go, gentle pressure while rolling back and forward, all the while pulling the rubber slightly with the other hand (keeping it stretched a bit reduces the diameter and makes it easier to go in, keep the rubber taut during installation). 3) Fasten the screen at the corners with two inches of rubber spline, before you install the final rubber, it will keep it from kinking and its position changing. Once your rubber spline installation reaches the corner, just remove the temporary rubber holding the screen. Following these steps, I was able to install the screen from start to finish in 15 minutes.

how many magnets

there are only 2 magnet locations, one at the bottom and one about 35 inches up from the bottom. There are also only 2 velcros per side, at the bottom and about 6 inches from the top. My door is 35 inches wide and the spring bar for the top keeps the sides where they belong so the top velcro doesn't seem to be needed. the bottom is weighted to help the bottom magnet catch consistently. Once I got the bottom velcro set so the bottom was just short of being tight the bottom magnet works fine so far. Just put this up so YMMV.

Yes it dose. The tention rod will adjust to the size. I've had mine for four years plus and love it. It's sturdy and in great condition. We use it every summer and even take on vacation if we need it.

twist the tension rod so that it screws to a longer length, about 1/2 in wider than your doorframe. Slip the tension rod into the end of the screen with the pocket (opposite from the weighted edge). Put one end of the rod against the doorway and push so the tension rod compresses and you can slide the other end of the tension rod so the rod is level. Remove the paper from the back of the velcro strips and stick them to the top/bottom of the doorway. I set the bottom so it was just short of having some tension. Keeps the weighted bottom straight but still leaves enough slack so that the bottom magnet catches.

Can you use this for your floor heat vents?

The purpose is I am getting new grates because the ones I have are in need of change due to the people who owned my house before me bought really bad ones like dollar store ones and so I am replacing them and wanted to know if I could use this for underneath the grates to catch anything that may fall in. I had some kind of mesh at my old house and don't know what it was made of and I liked that idea.
