How do I install the closet rod?

I notice the end of the rods are not flat, how do I secure the ends to the wall?
    Asked by: Anonymous
You do not connect the ends of the rod directly to a side wall. Instead, on each side wall where you want a rod to be anchored, you attach a 1x4 board. The length of each such board should be such that the board touches the back wall and juts out just past where you want the rod in the closet. The rod ends are then attached to these boards (with the out hang on each rod end being flush with the edge of the boards - this acts as a de facto level for the rod - assuming the boards are installed level). This way you can place the rod where you want as opposed to where the studs are in the wall. Obviously, the 1x4 boards should be attached to the wall using the wall studs.
