Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great addition While I've used this unit to check various HVAC systems over time, I've actually found myself using outdoors even more. I'm a little bit of a weather nerd so it's been fun to take it on trips. It doesn't weigh much so I don't mind carrying it in my pack while hiking and the visibility is good in full sunlight so it's easy to use. Also fun to take out on the water/boating. Durability seems good although I've thought about getting a small padded case. Overall really cool tool to have. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting and useful gadget I have tested this against my various certified meters in the same measurement and found all features to meet published specs. The functionality is as expected. The LCD is built to have two different UP orientations, based on meter used. This is a prompt to rotate the meter when you select a different mode. I found no real usability issues with any of the features. It is actually a handy little meter. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool Great useful tool. I think it would be nice for future models to include a type K probe as it must be purchased separately. Also a back-lit led screen could make for easier reading. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More useful than I had imagined We live in the high desert, and there is no accurate weather report for the particular micro-climate we live in. As such, this instrument has enabled me to more accurately measure the amount of water required to keep our trees and shrubs healthy without over-watering, and over watering is something we need to avoid here where the cost is prohibitive. I believe that this instrument is actually saving me a bit of money right now, and will save me a lot more in the summer when water is in high use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nifty environmental meter This 4-function environment meter is well designed and constructed and a good compromise in size between portability and ease-of-use. I find the min/max function very helpful when measuring wind speed in gusty conditions. I got this for outdoor activities, but have found it useful around the house measuring HVAC airflow and temperature and checking for drafts. I checked the temperature and light functions for accuracy and they were within tolerance. I tested it with an Extech thermocouple and it worked well. It includes min/max and hold capability for all measurements, and automatically turns itself off after 10 minutes. I have a couple of minor complaints - the thermocouple function is always in the list of functions even when no thermocouple is attached, and, while it has the information to compute windchill and dewpoint, those functions are not present. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool for private pilots The display is easy to read and it provides the atmospheric conditions I need prior to takeoff. I keep it in my flight bag, but have also used at the house to read the relative humidity to measure the performance of my A/C, as well as test for drafts in my doors and windows. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take science fair up a level Extech Hygro-Thermo-Anemometer-Light Meter The Extech 4-in-1 humidity, temperature, airflow, and light meter is just cool. My kids and I are studying the weather and avalanche conditions and we are making a hovercraft. This is the perfect tool. It has a built in thermometer or it can use a k-type thermal couple. The thermal couple option is great if measuring snow temperature. We used the airflow meter to test which fans are better for the hovercraft. It makes for a great data input if you’re doing science fair. The temperature and humidity sensor are necessary for analyzing avalanche conditions. We’ve use the light meter for our hydroponic experiments and determining aperture settings for photography. If you have kids and are doing projects or science fairs, this is really useful. It is also good if you are a back-country skier. I really like this device. I think our next test is to figure out how much energy a radiator is putting out by measuring airflow, temperature in and temperature out. I highly recommend this product. Very well packaged and easy to use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
