This rolling composter's design allows you to efficiently convert your kitchen and yard waste into rich soil enhancing compost. Just load it up, close the sliding door, and use the convenient built in hand holds to give it a turn every couple days and see how it produces finished compost in weeks. You can also conveniently roll the composter to your garden to dump the finished compost or move the composter to a different location within your yard.

  1. Avoid digging your compost pile by hand. The tumbling design makes mixing easy. In hot conditions and with a proper balance of ingredients the compost can finish in as little as two weeks.
  1. Fantastic for beginners! The large opening and removable door makes it easy to add scraps/clippings and remove finished compost. Deep fins on the body provide great ergonomic handholds.
  1. The rolling design allows you to easily move the compost to where its needed.
  1. Deep fins break up clumps inside the chamber. Tumbling composters allow far greater aeration than standard models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! I've been using the composter for about 2 months now and so far so good. It is heating up inside and I've got beneficial bugs flying around so it seems to be cooking. I've been making sure to add a handful of brown matter every time I empty my kitchen pail (using straw so far). While it is heavy to spin, I don't have any difficulty (female in 30s) and you can even fit the tips of your shoes on the little grooves and use your legs to push down and give it a spin which might be a good option for people with back issues. Hopefully I'll get some nice compost, but TBD.

The quality of the barrel and base is great and the product came with useful tips for how to produce good compost. Even my father who is 65+ also enjoys it and finds it extremely easy to maneuver. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Frog no spindly legs - solid base I am very pleased with my Hot Frog Rolling Composter. I bought it for my raised garden beds because I can't control pests in my backyard compost (which I now use for the flower beds). It is an easy size to manage myself and the fact that it has a low curved base so it is practically sitting on the ground keeps it very stable. I can also roll to my garden for emptying. It is a good design and I can't really imagine anything breaking on it.

Is the bin bear and/or rodent resistant?

Does it smell and/or attract a lot of flies? How long does it take roughly to produce something I'd put plants into?

No smells. Easy to use. My family of 6 fills it very quickly, and it turns to useful compost in about 4-5 months. I could use 6 more for my family.

Will it survive the cold winter? Can it be left outside? Or it should be kept in the garage?

I had mine outside all winter in southern Ontario and no issues. No smell and no animal issues because I only put fruit and veg waste from kitchen plus tea and coffee - no meat scraps or bones. I’m 62 and only 54 in tall and I find it very ease to rotate and to move if necessary.
