Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong Size Bought the 25 x 20 x 5 because that's the size specified by the furnace manufacturer, but it wouldn't fit. I noticed the sticker on this product that states the actual depth as 4.75", but when I pulled out my old 25 x 20 x 5 filter, I see that the actual depth printed on that filter is 4 5/16". We have metric, we have Imperial, we have different sizes for a 5" filter, none of which is 5" because that isn't the size required. The industry needs to get its act together and think more about the customer than itself. At least the maker of this product, 3M, should state what makes (and models) of furnace each filter actually fits. I see that others have had the same problem, so some industry standardization is badly needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Filter is necessary We moved into a neglected house. The mudroom contains the furnace and washer and dryer units. The home inspector strongly advised to change the furnace's one-inch filter. Our son inserted the 4-inch Filtrete filter. The furnace serviceman was really pleased with this thickness. Also be aware that flammable dryer lint can accumulate in the furnace. This furnace filter is well worth every cent. Also, the instructions advise to replace the filter every six to 12 months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inaccurate size Ordered this through curbside pickup. Took 5 days to get it and then found out that the webpage sizing is wrong. This is more than half an inch wider than stated so doesn't fit. Nowhere in the description does it say "wide fit" but if you zoom in on the picture you can see a label that says that. The webpage should be fixed to make that clear and to fix the dimensions quoted. Now I will have to wait for a month to return it due to the current lockdown in Ontario. Not happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filtrete furnace filter Great product, after the time My Nest gives me a reminder to replace I notice the white filter turned gray’ish. It does get particles out the fresh air intake. I think this specific product is rare at 11 MERV.

Hi Jack, thank you for your question. Scientists at 3M believe that MERV only tells part of the story. It’s why we created a different measurement — Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR). This rating includes microscopic particles not visible to the naked eye. Microparticles are not even measured on the MERV scale until it reaches MERV 11. Hi, thank you for your question. We carry a wide fit and a slim fit in the 5’’ wide filters. The actual size of this slim fit filter is 15-3/4 x 24-3/4 and the width is 4.31''.
