Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tel qu'annoncé Le produit est conforme à ce qui est annoncé. Installation et démarrage faciles. Pas une surprise mais lourd et bruyant. Satisfait pour l'instant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loud The generator works flawlessly, not even a flicker of lights. Ran the whole house without a problem. Now in saying that I could not believe how noisy the generator was. Operation silencer was put in to effect by a insulated cover. That brought the decibels down to a dull roar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Misleading Title: Starting Watts vs Running Watts! This is a great unit. We've got it setup to a sub-panel that runs our water and septic pumps. One major issue is that I bought the generator after having calculated how much power we were going to need. I needed a 7 Watt unit, so bought this one as it is titled a "7100 Watt Generator". That title told me this unit was what I needed. Alas, in the description it qualifies "7100 starting watts and 5700 running watts." Had I know this, I would have spent the extra $150 and gotten the 10000 watt unit that actually run 8000 watts. Unfortunately, I live so remotely that returning it is not a realistic option. I find it misleading to title a generator for its starting watts rather than running watts so thought I'd share that here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Remote start is great feature for my mother in law Only had a couple of weeks, but got put to the test early. Power was out for 8hrs and used 3/4 of fuel under load which was a double wide trailer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WONDERFUL FEATURES AND SIMPLE TO OPERATE PUTTING TOGETHER THIS UNIT WHEN I RECEIVED IT WAS EASY AS THE INSTRUCTIONS IMPLIED. I RAN THE UNIT THROUGH THE THREE METHODS TO START THE UNIT AND EVERYTHING WENT WELL. I HAVE SINCE USED THE UNIT IN EXTREME COLD WEATHER WITH NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this a couple of months ago and so far has run flawlessly. I especially like the remote start and shut off feature, which I use 95% of the time when using the generator. I've put close to 100 hours on it in the 2 months and can see great performance. Delivery was a little slow, but not the result of Home Depot. The company they used to deliver was reluctant to come to my home in the country, and neglected to inform me they weren't coming after making a couple of different arrangements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like it Bought recently but looks very good. A bit more noisy than I expected but seeing as it's outside that's not a problem.

can the remote be used from inside a house

    Asked by: jesse
Yes, the remote will work up to a distance of 75 meters. Please note; always keep the Generator far enough from open windows so Carbon Monoxide does not enter the house.

does the remote work from inside a house.

    Asked by: jesse
I've got the generator located inside a closed and locked shed, and I need to be outside on the deck, around 90' away, before the remote works. I had it work once from just outside the door to the deck, but I wouldn't rely on that. So I'd say, depending on how far away the generator is, it might work, mine is likely just at the outer reaches of what it is capable of.

    Asked by: james
Hi James, We have many customers in Canada that use this 7100 watt generator as back up for their homes. You should have no problem powering you TV, connecting to a surge suppressor would be a good idea. Hope this helps. Your FIRMAN Friends

How well does this unit stand up to sub zero weather, if it is located outside?

    Asked by: RonM
Ok if you are planning on leaving it outside to allow for quick starting if needed you should remember that the remote will require the generator to be in "standby" mode to be able to receive the start signal from the remote. That means you will need to have a trickle charger on the generator battery ( 2~ 6 amps @ 12 volt ) so the unit can be left in "standby". Failure to do that will mean the generator battery will run low over time due to power drain.. Sub Zero would mean you should also consider a magnetic or heat blanket (battery heater blanket) wrapped around the bottom of the engine to keep the oil warm enough to handle a "cold start". I would suggest some sort of vent-able enclosure to restrict direct cold wind chilling of the generator. So a little engineering would be required to consider exhaust outlet and cool air inlet on the enclosure. The direct wind chill is the problem to over come, shield it from the direct chill and allow it to breath and be some what warm and it should be O.K.

What is the data ( in percent ) for harmonics on the electrical output?

    Asked by: Edwin
A site that has reviewed firman generators says the tdh is 3%, which is as good as much more expensive name brand generators, and close to invertor types.
