Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rain Barrel installed a without a problem Brought the rain barrel home, and dropped it off by our shed. The shed is 200 feet from our water supply. Cut the down pipe from the gutter system, and inserted the diverter into the "square" down pipe with a bit of trouble and a spatula to help shoehorn it into the pipe. drilled the 1 inch hole into the side of the rain barrel in the designated spot. Attached the fitting and inserted the cut tube onto the fittings on the diverter and the rain barrel. Respected the drop of 1.75" (or so). Rained that evening, and by morning the rain barrel was full, and the rain had obviously bypassed into the down pipe drain for the runoff. Overall works very well without a problem. Haven't used the spigot yet, but will probably attach a drip irrigation system to it, as the garden is lower than the spigot. Buried the base of the rain barrel a bit to help stabilize it, but seems just fine. The lid stayed put regardless of the very full rain barrel and some high winds.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Design flaws and poor construction. The night after I installed this rain barrel we had a major rainstorm. The next morning I found the rain barrel had only a few litres of water in it, not even up to the little faucet. I took apart the diverter to see what was wrong. Had I installed it improperly? It turns out the problem is that it is cheaply constructed. The diverter plate should be sealed in place so it is water tight. I needed to take a caulking gun to fill in the gaps that allow water to leak out of it in the wrong places (like where the metal drain pipes join the plastic diverter box), The diverter plate should be permanent in its position, and only the little screen should be removable. Plus, the grates on the screen are too large in comparison to the slots so that much of the water goes where you don't want it. Another improvement I will have to make myself. I also have a problem with the faucet. It's attachment to the barrel is flimsy. Someone could easily dislodge it and break it just by bumping into it. I will also have to install a siphon so that the faucet can draw water from the bottom 8 inches of the barrel. I have no idea why that wasn't included. In the end, it looks good and it should work with extra improvements and modifications. So, I will keep it, but I won't recommend it due to poor construction and flawed design. Don't buy this if you're not a handyman or don't like tinkering with things. Really, if you spend this much money on something, it should just work as it all ready is.
