Rated 1 out of 5 by from Instruction illustrations are too small to see The instructions are not helpful because the text doesn't fully explain how to replace the seal and the illustrations are so small that I cannot read them. I came to the Fluidmaster website looking for an instruction sheet, but there is nothing available for this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product repacement valve very efficient. Would buy again. I've attached the pkg instrs for your convenience and review. My issue is, I believe, the instructions are incorrect in item 3. It instructs to "...replace seal, flat side up." The worn seal that I replaced had the flat side down i.e. with the protruding "nipple" up. That is the position in which I replaced the new seal. Viz. Flat side down and nipple end up into the top of the cover. Do you agree with my positioning and, if not, please advise your soonest. It may be just a matter of interpretation between what is up or down =) in the illustrations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One day you will need this What's to say? If your toilet's running continuously you'll probably need to replace this. Very easy and inexpensive. Takes a minute and a couple of bucks. If it's running intermittently check the flapper. Or you can call a plumber and spend a bundle...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My toilet lasted for years, but now needs a fill valve. My toilet has lasted for years, and now needs a replacement fill valve. The only complaint I have is if you flush it fast, water can drip out of the two pivot points on the water bucket that tips over to flush the toilet, but if you flush is slowly, this is not a problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This valve needs total redesign. I bought a Glacier Bay flapperless stool about two years ago. I have installed hundreds of the fluidmaster 400's and other fluidmaster ballcocks in my 50 plus years as a apprentice, journeyman, and master plumber, so I was happy to see the fill valve in the Glacier Bay flapperless stool. Having had extremely good service from the ones installed in customers homes in an area that is noted for hard water(the norm there is 21 grains, 7 is considered hard). I didn't worry that this one was horizontal rather than vertical. What I got was a valve that failed on me in about 6 months, by not shutting off completely. I bought a repair kit and rebuilt it, it lasted about 2 months. I bought a replacement head and installed it. I kept an eye on it found it leaking in about 3 months called fluidmaster, they said they hadn't found a cure for it, asked if the water was hard. Water here has a maximum of 3 grains of hardness, so it's soft. The head I bought at that time lasted about 3 months. I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly then reassembled it. It still leaked. I totally disassembled it and inverted the entire valve body. This lasted about 4 months. I am quitting the repairs. going to replace it with a dual flush.
