Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gardena Accu Rechargeable Cylinder Lawnmower 380L Have been using this mower over the last 8 years. It mows the huge back and front lawns of my house in less than an hour. It's loyal and works like the 2014 Soccer World Cup German team. Hey, I'm a black Canadian and was not paid to review this machine. Use a vegetable knife to peel the mulch off the blades and plug in the battery to charge right after finishing mowing and the machine is always ready to use. The mower seems to be a bit pricey, though I haven't found its analogue (cordless mechanic/ electric, long lasting battery and easy 'n' clean cut) at homedepot. Great Product. Well done Gardena!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality Cut at a Price If quality of cut is your priority then this is your mower. My lawns look like golf greens when they are done. However, like any rotary style mowers you have to be careful to pick up twigs etc before cutting the lawn. I've only used this 3 times (it arrived 3 weeks ago). I've been cutting the grass each week to make sure the grass never gets too long. However, this year in New Brunswick, the grass has been growing quickly. I probably should be cutting it more frequently, but just don't have the time. I didn't think my yard was that big (approx 100 x 80) but the battery doesn't last for both front and back yards. I do have a lot of obstacles that slow down the job though, so that could be part of the problem. I'm still getting used to using the mower. However, it does appear that the days of mowing the lawns in an hour (with my old electric mower) are gone. It's taking close to 2 hours now because I have to go over sections more than once. That said though, the yards have never looked this good. I think the price of this mower at $599 is too high. At this point, I don't feel like I have received value for the money. There is a large demand for it though, so it doesn't appear the price will be dropping any time soon. The bottom line, it provides quality at a price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long Term Review We bought the original nicad battery operated version 5 years ago. @4 years it needed a resharpenning. Use the Lee Valley reel mower sharpenning kit. This year, its 5th, the motor is smoking, and dying. It was exhibiting distress due to higher friction in the bearing, and tension in the drive belt increased due to hard build up of grass crud in the gear drive. That helped to drive the motor to its death. Cleaning out the gear of crud helped, but it was too late, the motor was already on its way out. I enjoyed this mower - it was nice and quiet, and generally cuts well, and easy to pick up and go over on my multi-tier lawns. If you have very long grass, with long harder stocks, it won't cut it, because the reel would push it down. Youl'll have to go at those with a shear or trimmer. A standard fan blade mower would not have that problem. But its a short coming that only happens if I go on vacation for a month, which doesn't happen very often unfortunately. If I can get a replacement motor / brush, and new bearing, I'll continue to use it. Currently, I've take the belt off, and using it purely as a push mower. Life Expectancy - 5 years on electric mower Quality of cut - 9/10 Ease of Use - 9/10 Repeat Purchase - very likely

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best mower I've every owned So far I have used almost every types of mower, every brand. But this Gardena Cylinder mower puts the rest of mowers to dust. Extremely high quality product, reliable, powerful, simply and beautiful mower. Very light weight unlike others bulky ones. The grass cut is outstanding, very clean, shaped. I just cant be happier. I know its an expensive one but worth every single penny. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it Mowing the lawn was never really be more fun, less effort and superb quality cutting. My huge back and front yards didn't even make its battery half empty. The best thing I like about it, its quality mowing, huge difference from my previous toro gas mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For garden purist only the title says it all. been using it for 2 months now and this is for people who can't compromise on quality product. Nothing beats this cylinder/reel mower. this product is sold out across Canada and will wait for new batch for my daughter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower Just bought this mower but have yet to mow. Looks pretty solid, light weight. I was reluctant to buy cylinder type and like everyone else was leaning towards rotary mower but wanted to try out as Cylinder is no doubt superior to rotary in every aspects. will provide more feedback as I experience this new mower. But my friend is using the same and happy with it. I am sure it will be fun using it. I have returned my B&D cordless CM1836 which was also a good mower but this Gardena 380 Li is unique, light weight, cylinder type, high-torque with 25V 3.2 Ah. It comes with a grass catcher. I was confused that grass catcher is not included so bought a separate one and will going to return an extra one. Another good thing about this mower is that it rechargeable at all times completely without memory effect.

What is the cutting height range?

Asked by: Anonymous
"Cutting height adjustment 12-to 42mm., cutting width 38 cm" I don't know if that's correct just quoting the descript, something doesn't sound right about a mower that can't cut your grass any longer than 4.2 cm (roughly 2 inches)

Where can I get a new battery and what type should I be asking for?

Asked by: Anonymous
Take down the model number of your unit and phone Gardena, most battery powered mowers/anything high power demanding require specific sizes and configurations of batteries, so most are specific to the unit. Gardena may very well refer you to somewhere local to get the battery.

how long does the battery last?

Asked by: Anonymous
If you are looking at the battery life then it will last 5-7 years (note: never store on a concrete floor as it will reduce the life of the battery). If you are looking at the length of time the battery will last for mowing then this depends on many factors: wet grass, slopes, length of grass; but the average run time is about 40 minutes. I hope this helps.

the battery won't charge, do i need a new one? or is something else wrong?

Asked by: Anonymous
Same problem happened to mine. I took it to their Servicing Centre in Brampton. It turns out that the battery was frozen after I had left it in the cold for just one very early day of winter (without any snow or rain) in my backyard. Gardena Servicing Centre is located in Brampton, Ontario. Their service rep provided me with a replacement battery and repaired my trimmer at a surprisingly low cost. He even gave me free blades for my Gardena trimmer and advice on how to maintain my mower and trimmer. He was very nice and helpful. You can contact them at the following: 100 Summerlea Rd, Brampton ON L6T 4X3 Phone (905) 792-9330 I hope this will help you.
