Butt Splice Kit is used for waterproof repair of well pipe cables and splices of stranded cable #14 - #8 AWG. Connector set screws engage each wire for a secure splice. Assures safe and permanent connections. Easy to use polyolefin seals with heat gun or torch eliminating messy epoxies, tapes or mastics. Instructions: Slide heat shrink tubing over one conductor. Remove 5/8" insulation from conductors to be spliced. Insert stripped conductor in the butt splice. Tighten set screw to the lb per inch recommendations on the packaging and check for continuity of wire. Move heat shrink tube over splice and center. Heat tubing with torch or heat gun (MSTR-TORCH). Tubing shrinks at 350 F. Start in the middle of the tube, apply heat moving lengthwise back and forth over tubing. DO NOT TRAP AIR IN MIDDLE OF SPLICE KIT. When tubing has assumed the splice configuration and mastic seal is visible on each end of tubing, discontinue heating.
