Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for minimalist kitchen We installed this two-burner stove for our basement suite apartment, I found it to be quite expensive for what it is, but it fit perfectly on our approx 8’ countertop while still leaving enough space for the sink and food prep. Our contractor didn’t have any problems installing it.

In Canada, cap the white electrical supply conductor (neutral)?

In Canada, a 12/3 cable (with red, black, white, & copper conductors) is run from the electrical panel to the junction box where the cable from this cook top is connected. Does the cable of this cooktop have 3 conductors wherein the white conductor is not present? If so, should the white conductor from the electrical supply be capped off? In the GE instructions, it states "if local codes permit, connect the bare copper ground connector of the cooktop to the supply circuit neutral (white wire)." This doesn't seem correct for Canada. Just to be clear, what should be done with the white wire from the supply in Canada?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The JP256BMBB product only has 240 Volt components; therefore there is no neutral (white) wire from the product. It is 2 lines and ground wire. The neutral from the supply circuit should not be connected to the JP256BMBB and this neutral wire from the supply circuit should be capped off in the house junction box. Hope this helps!

How many amps does the 21" cooktop draw and what breaker would be required for the dedicated circuit?

    Asked by: Anonymous
This cooktop draws 20 AMP and attached, are additional information from the installation instructions in regards to the electrical requirements. In Canada, you must use special CSA approved connectors for joining copper to aluminum. You must use a two-wire, three conductor 208/240 VAC, 60 Hertz electrical system. A white (neutral) wire is not needed for this unit. The cooktop must be installed in a circuit that does not exceed 125 VAC nominal to ground. I hope this information helps.
