I've had this filter for about 4 years now and sadly I can't stand it any more. As mentioned by other users the same faulty design on the plastic push valves. I would prefer to have a valve to shut off and then change the filters, but this design appears to be made to fail after some usage time so you have to buy a new unit. I know GE can do better !

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not last. Have replaced it twice with same defect I have replaced this unit twice for the same problem. Water flow decreases to the point it is unusable. Both times it was accompanied by a loud vibration. I purchased new filters both times and that did not help, so i am stuck with a defective unit and an extra $45 pair of barely used filters for the second time in 3 years. The first time i wrote it off to bad luck with a defective unit, but now that i have had this happen a second time, it is truly frustrating. A number of reviewers suggest this problem is caused by a defect in a pin or the filter being put on incorrectly. Either way, it is a real issue and one that it seems hard to avoid acknowledging. I noticed that GE has responded to a number of customer complaints on these posts but seems to avoid responding to the large number of complaints related to this issue. It would make sense to simply alter the design at some point with the large number of nearly identical incidents. i also feel like they need to stop trying to pin this recurring defect on user error.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Filter good - faucet cheap Filters appear to work well. The unit takes up little space and installed very easily. Surprised at how cheap and flimsy the faucet is. I'll be surprised if it lasts more than a year. Also noted the flow rate is much lower than my previous filter system. Can live with that - just something a buyer should know about.

The filters on the old system were too expensive to replace and hard to find. The new system works looks good and is easy to replace the filters. Easy installation too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good filtration for a reasonable price Pros: Easy to install the system, super-easy to replace filters, water tastes and smells good. I researched quite a bit and could not find ANYTHING comparable in this price range. Cons: Filters are expensive, about $45-$50 for a pack of 2 filters that last about 6 months. Water pressure dropped a little bit, but no enough to make it a serious drawback.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GE water filter I had my GE GXSV65R installed 9/2012 and it has worked well. I only replace the filters after 12 months without any noticeable diminishedment in water quality. I live in the Phoenix area where we have high calcium content in the water and this filter system has handled it well. I will be making my 4th filter replacement in 6 weeks (Sept.). I guess as long and the filters are still made to spec, I expect it to continue working. It's lasted 4 years so far and that is more that I could expect ANY filtration system to work with the extremely hard water in this area.

Very low water pressure

The water flow was ok at first but slowly and gradually it has slow down. Can you please help? Thanks.

Mine too, faulty design, take it off and return it. The push valves that the new filters push in when twisted tapped against the filter at some point and flattened the tip thus not allowing the same water pressure. It is now junk.

Can I place this on a well that's only for a rv?

Do not use where water is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequately disinfecting before or after the system, such as single-user wells, or other non-public water systems not regulated by federal or state health and safety requirements. Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts. I still have white resedue in the water with this filter. What is wrong?

Filter takes out particles and some chemicals. It cannot take out dissolved minerals - which is what causes the white buildup.

replaced filters and lights keeps blinking indicating we need new filter

Really? Take the battery out and toss it in the garbage can. Take a marker and write the date on the replacement filter as to when it was installed, check it in a year and replace the filters again, repeat the marking process. Works for me.

If not which faucet brands you carry in Nickel/stainless would be compatible.

what does the yellow & green flag on the filter mean?

Our system suddenly wont work

We have been having a weird issue. The water doesn't really flow out. We have changed the filters, replaced the battery, disconnected and reconnected. Its like a slight drip. I have been on the website and can't find any help. Suggestions?
