When it's time to change the filters on this system (approx. 6 months), the first filter is always brown. The second one is considerably lighter, so this system is doing exactly what it's supposed to (filtering out the bad stuff). We have been using this system for a long time and have not been disappointed.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE MEMBRANE FILTER??

HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE MEMBRANE FILTER??
Asked by: DOC
Hi Doc, this is a great question! When the TDS (total dissolved solids) reduction of the system falls below 75%, it is time to replace the reverse osmosis cartridge/membrane in addition to the pre-filter and postfilter. The TDS should be checked annually. Replace the membrane if the TDS falls below 75% reduction or maximum every 3-5 years as needed. We hope this helps! - Guy@GEA

Does this filter out Gross Alpha?

Does this filter out Gross Alpha?
Asked by: Chuckers
Reverse Osmosis Reverse osmosis treatment addresses all gross alpha radiation contaminants. It uses a synthetic membrane that allows water to go through but leaves radium, uranium and other gross alpha radiation contaminants behind. The membrane is continually rinsed. It is usually installed under the kitchen sink (point-of-use, POU), but can also be installed as a whole house system (point-of-entry, POE). Install a system with a National Sanitation Foundation (NSF/ANSI) Standard 58 Certification. Search for an NSF/ANSI-certified reverse osmosis treatment system.
