Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for a small generator I had this generator for almost 1 year. It started up every time and ran the loads that I hooked up to it. The best thing about this generator is that it can run 11 hours on 3.5 gallons of gas, so I do not have to stock up lots of gas. The noise is low compared to other generators. The downside is that it does not provide the clean power (low THD) that is needed to power electronic equipment including any newer furnace and refrigerator circuit boards. However, this is a great generator for a short outage or if used to power lights and tools. I am replacing this one with a little bigger Ridgid generator from Home Depot which provides the clean power that I think is essential for home backup power. Generac XP models provide clean power, but they are twice as expensive too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product main value is a 240 volt output. It handles a 7500 BTU 115 volt air conditioner no problem and is able to start and run a 240 volt 1/2 hp shallow well pump. It can do either the a/c or the pump, but not both at once. Not too noisy and pretty good on fuel consumption. Cannot start and run a 2 hp Makita saw, so this is not a good generator for construction use. Starts with one pull.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would have had to leave home if I didn't have it. Used the GP3250 for over 80hrs.in aftermath of hurricane Sandy.Ran refridge/freezer,gas furnace.2 small tv's.3 lamps with low watt LED bulbs. Also able to charge cell phones.Used multiple outlet surge protectors to distribute power.I had no power for over 8 days.Ran the gen.on & off for 8 to 12hrs. a day.Not an ideal situation. But it was livable.Glad I had it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have purcahsed 2 of these from Home Depot and BOTH have been returned without even being able to ... Have purcahsed 2 of these from Home Depot and BOTH have been returned without even being able to start them. The first one was delivered and the breather was broken off. Took it back to the store and ordered another one. The second one was delivered today and upon putting the wheels on, I noticed the motor was not even mounted! It was wobbling and unsteady due to the motor mounts being broken off on this one. This one is going back also. Is Generac just sending Home Depot their junk? Or is this just a bad luck of the draw??? I am not sure if I should order a third thru Home Depot or go to another store and make this purchase...if that would change the quality of product I have struck out on TWICE now???

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product for the price After being without power for 7 days due to the snow storm in October in Massachusetts, ordered it the day the power came back on. Depot shipped within two weeks as they stated. When it arrived, took about 15 minutes to bolt on a few parts and put oil in it. It started on first pull. Did alot of research before buying and think the quality and the price are well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power for basic home needs for less than $450 Plenty of power for basic home needs (fridge, oil burner [hot water & hot water heat], lights, TV). Easy to start up. One pull on even cold mornings was sufficient. Easy to move around on a wheeled chassis. Small enough size to fit in a basic hatchback. Even the oil fill funnel is specially designed to allow easy fill. Relatively quiet although would prefer it to be a bit quieter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Arrived damaged This was an internet purchase and was shipped via Generec's shipper. Would have been very happy with both quality and price except the gen. arrived damaged. Proved difficult to return. Because of gas motor, shipper would not take back. Home Depot came through and sent one of their drivers, picked it up free of charge and got it returned for me. Thank you Home Depot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good performance But Damaged at Factory, Claim denied This generator will work fine if it leaves the factory in good health. If you have to deal with the claims dept, were talking 20 year old kids with zero common sense, that don't have a clue what they are doing, other than finding some way to deny your claim. I bought it at Home Depot online, and had it shipped to my door. Fedex delivered it in a perfect, undamaged box. I put on the wheels and filter box cover and assembly was done. The engine fired right up but there was no voltage at the outputs. I could have fixed it, but I said hey, 2 year full warranty, and off it went to the shop. They found that the generator's beefy cover had been pushed in and up by some stout force, cutting through the insulation on the wires and shorting the output power. The shipping box was like new, and the Generac was rigidly located in the box by styrofoam castings. There was a 4" gap from the damaged metal cover to the inside of the box's end. In short, there was no way the damage could happen while it was in the box. The shop's claim was denyed due to damage during shipping! To get the generator in the winter when it was most needed, I payed the shop's claim and opened my own claim, complete with supporting pictures. After a month, that calim was denied due to "unexplained damage during shipping". Discussions with "Marcia", the claim rejector, were on the order of her debating how she knows the earth is flat ... that bad. If you buy one, get a 2nd store warranty.

Can you run a sump pump, refrig and one light off this unit?

Asked by: T
On the fridge inner side panel is a metal plate says 6.5 amps sometimes more... Most applicances like these say amps needed to run. 6.5 amps x 120 volts = 780 watts not sure what your pump needs for amps.. Books say motors need a surge to start.. With applicances like my fridge I'm not so sure I think in that case the 6.5 amps is the true draw.. Why? because I had a 1000 watt generator rated at 900 running watts (or 7.5 amps) power my fridge and a few lights.. There was no extra room for 2 to 3 times the watts (or amps) to start the fridge motor. Now with my well pump is says 8 amps but also says not more than 16 amps.. I believe in this case there may need to be extra amps for surge.. Depending of the size of pump you might be able to do both and lights if not the pump won't start or a breaker on the generator will trip.. 2470 watts/120 = 20.5 amps should be enough extra.. especially since they say in-addition it has an extra 500 watts for surge (4.16 amps)

Generac’s GP3250 portable generator does not feature idle control on the unit; the engine will operate continuously at 3600 RPM, when the generator is in use.

Would this generator work for powering a travel trailer while camping?

Asked by: jenn
Yes, any portable generator will. This one is small and would only power lights, and may need a UPS devise to clean up the signal for TV's and computers. It will not power electric dryers, AC, and ovens. Go to the Generac web site and they list typical watts for various devices. Look at other reviews for camper use, search if possible.
