Very happy with this purchase in terms of performance, price and delivery. The delivery driver dropped off the unit next to the old unit, which far exceeded what I was expecting. Was easy to purchase online and I was able to beat the price my installer could buy the unit for. This unit was purchased to replace an existing unit that had reached a point where I was unwilling to sink more money into it. You can see from the photo that the unit is about 25% smaller than the old unit by the size of the concrete slab that was built for the old unit. One disappointment was the locations of the gas and electrical connections were significantly different from the old unit. Plus the maintenance access panel is now on the opposite side of the unit, so I will have to move the pavers I installed as a working surface. This required a little rework on the gas line, but the electrical worked out okay. The power output is very clean and overall I'm very happy with this generator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unit for running essential equipment during power outage This unit is the best choice for running essential equipment during a power outage. The price is affordable too. In most cases you do not need a whole house generator which will cost you significantly more. This unit is compact and quiet. Installation was completed in one day. Very pleased so far with purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice alternative to portable generator Good quality generator to run essential appliances during power outages, transfer switch supplied with unit seems to be a toy, decided not to use, will swap manually. Instructions with generator are sufficient for self installation. Also had to install hour meter to track usage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basic Emergency Backup Power After researching standby generators I purchased the Generac PowerPact. The generator was installed by a professional electrician and propane company. The total cost of the project was $7000 which included installation, permits, setting 325 gal. tank and propane. The price of the generator, compact design and service availability is what attracted me to make the purchase as an investment. I am disappointed in the 2 year warranty since other competitors offer up to 4-10 years. The bottom line is only time will tell if the generator performance and durability are as advertised.

I'm interested in model 6998, however the product overview doesn't state that this unit will start automatically during a power failure. Will this model auto start and auto transfer loads?

    Asked by: Scottie
Yes it will start automatically and transfer the loads a few moments after hydro power is lost.

What is the noise level (full load and no load) on this unit in dBA and how far away is that reading taken?

    Asked by: backwoodsguy
Generac does not publish decibel levels for portable generators, as there is no industry standard. If you would like to hear the unit for yourself, we recommend visiting your local retailer store to have them run a unit for you to gauge the sound level.

Can I connect to a 240 volt 30amp circuit instead of the 8 circuits that come with this unit? Looks like 20amp is the maximum. Maybe I just swap out 2 of the breakers?

    Asked by: Gary5hunting
No, the 7.5kW home standby generators must be connected to an automatic transfer switch.

I was wondering what doesn't actually come with the 7500w generator? For instance, i noticed the warming blanket was needed for climates under 32 degrees or zero here in Canada and the battery is also needed. Any info would be appreciated.Tom

    Asked by: Googh
Our home standby generators will not come with a battery or any of the accessories that are available for purchase separately including: cold weather kit, battery warmer, paint kit, or fuel level monitor.

What kind of pad is needed under this unit in British Columbia?

    Asked by: Dano
In Alberta 24"x24" stepping stones on the top of 6" gravel bed works fine. In case it is not too late, avoid Generac if you can.
