Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't trust Home Depot, Quick Contractors or Genie Do not buy this. I bought this 3 weeks ago. 1 week after installation (which I purchased through Home Depot) I noticed it wasn't closing properly. Bad install or defective? I called the installers Quick Contractors, Quick Contractors said "call Home Depot". I called Home Depot, they said "call the manufacturer Genie". I called Genie, Genie said call the installers Quick Contractors. So now, I have a new dysfunctional Genie garage door opener that is not working properly, and no-one will step up and fix it. I will definitely share this with social media sites.

The drive unit works but cant open or close the door from either the wired opener or the remote. 4 hours of troubleshooting and nothing Put the box out with recycling now I'm stuck with a $500 ceiling ornament

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very quiet opener, happy after first two weeks. . I have this opener for two weeks so far. Door opening is very smooth and quiet. I purchased this opener online first, but it does not work for including installation to the order part. Despite full amount (including installation) was allocated on the credit card HD charged device price plus tax only. Installation request was missed completely. Corporate Customer Service provided very little help. Guys in the local store were very helpful but only the way to solve the problem was cancel original order, get refund and buy it again in the store. As soon as installation request was in, somebody calls me in the next hour. Installation process was very good. Contractor needed to reference in the manual a few times, he said it is new product for him but there was not a problem after all. The only problem I have it is connecting it to HomeLink in the car. It was painful. I repeated suggested procedure again and again in 30 minutes. It succeeded only when car was parked very close to the opener inside garage. Another unexpected surprise was the opening on backup battery is very very slow (but who promised it is going to be fast?). I have not connected this opener to WiFi and have not used app, so I can not review this part.

Can this be used in a 12w x 9h door.

No, this unit is only for use on a 7 foot high door, or an 8 foot high door when paired with the 8 foot rail extension kit. You will need to contact a Genie dealer to have a custom rail and garage door opener made for a door that size.
