The quality is great, and the design is just what I was looking for. However, they don't seem to work well being the only light source in a small area. I intended for these lights to go in my and my husband's closets. As you can see in my pic, the large canopy over the glass casts a dark shadow onto the ceiling. This probably wouldn't be the case if there were more lights in the immediate area. I will probably be returning the unopened one for a more traditional closet light. Too bad. FYI: If your outlet box is recessed in the ceiling at all, it will be hard to get the decorative mounting nuts (pictured) onto the mounting bolts.

My only complaint is that I wish the actual socket for the bulb were brown or black instead of white, but for this price that is a small complaint. Unlike some fixtures with a single mounting bracket that can be frustrating to install, this one has a double bracket with the screw depth already fixed, so when you go to screw on the caps that actually hold the fixture in place you don't have to guess at or fuss with the depth of the screws. I liked it so much I ordered more for my hallways.

I converted a recessed pot light, over my kitchen sink, into this flush mounted ceiling lamp. It matchs an Edison style bulb chandelier, with the glass chimney, that I hung over m dining room table. It ties the two rooms niceky and I enjoy the more ambient lighting.. I also liked the mounting concept of the shade as the size of the hole from the pot light, and the Westinghouse conversion kit I got from Home Depot worked and looks beautifuly together.

Mine was delivered broken. 1 out the 3 units were broken . Not a big deal as it was just returned with no issue and another ordered. My second gripe is there is no replacement for the glass only , so if down the line if you brake it you have to hunt down something to match or replace the whole unit. In my case that's three. I guess just be very careful although I get calls all,the time to fix light lens.

We had a small issue with the mounting bracket - had to bend it to get the screws to go through the holes at the light's base. Has a few random little bubbles in the glass, but not noticeable when mounted. Love the look of it installed.

The globe is clear, which was not typical of most of the ceiling mounted lights I looked at. I am pleased with the clean look of the fixture. Many guests have noticed it and comment on how unique it is. I would purchase this light fixture again. It fits in with my coastal themed home.

Yes, Temperature has no effect on this light, shouldn’t be an issue unless there is direct moisture. We have installed these in bathroom that have been I service for years. Good luck.

I want to know if other non-edison style lights can be used in this, such as a clear bulb. Im worried about the edison light not being bright enough.

Yes, you can use any Medium (E26) base bulb with a maximum actual wattage of 60W in this fixture, including LED and CFL bulbs. - Globe Customer Care

Is dimmable?

Yes they will work with a dimmer. You need to be sure that when you purchase a bulb for the light assembly, which isn't included is dimmable. If you have an old dimmer switch you will also need to make sure it will work if you install a Led Eddison Bulb as many of the older dimmer switches do not work with LED. Make sure the bulb matches the switch and the fixture will do what you request. Visit a Home Depot and they will help you select the correct items .

Can an electrician fix it so that a 100 watt bulb be used instead? Our ceiling height is 9 feet and lower wattage bulbs don't emit enough light. We need two fixtures for different areas in the kitchen. The hanging style with 3 lights would be ideal for a different area because it would emit more than enough light but it is too wide. We also need a new light in the bathroom. Because bathrooms are damp would this light be suitable there? I really like these lights.

You could change the wires to the light socket to handle a higher wattage bulb. But a few things come to mind. If your set that you want to mount this to the ceiling how about a LED bulb they operate brighter at a lower wattage allowing you to get the same brighness as a 100watt bulb at a much less power usage 20 to 30 watts, LED bulbs also operate at a cooler temperature. How about the model that hangs from a rod same light just hangs . They are sold individually and can be lowered to your desired height. Again using LED bulbs . We have also installed smart bulbs with this light so you can adjust the color and intensity. Phillips or LIFX. Around 1600000 million color and shade options. I have mounted these in bathrooms they work fine , one thing to remember is they do not reflect up as the top shield stops the light reflection . For one customer we have removed them as they made the room dark. Another issue we have come across is keeping the glass clean in a bathroom with the build up of condensation. Make sure you have good ventilation system to keep down the moisture. Good luck .

You can install any Medium Base (E26) bulb in this fixture with a maximum wattage of 60W. The type of bulb shown in the product photos is the Globe Electric 60 Watt Incandescent S60 Vintage Squirrel Cage Medium Base Light Bulb (31321) Another bulb that you can use is the Globe Electric 60-Watt Incandescent A19 Vintage Quad Loop Medium Base Light Bulb (01325) - 4-pack (31325). How wide is the mounting base? in inches? Does it come in black or is there a similar product in size in black?

I can not tell you exactly how wide it is as it is above our sink. But what I can tell you is that your hole can barely be bigger then the electrical metal box or the light won't fit over it. I think it would be ideal for a new build so you can cut the hole to fit. We have not taken it down yet because we are trying to work on a solution, I really like it with the Edison style light bulb. I have not seen this light in black but I have not looked either as we were looking for oil rubbed bronze.
