The remote is a little small, but very functional. While the TV power and volume use IR, all the other controls are connected by Bluetooth. The menus are snappy to navigate and easy to understand. Google Assistant allows you to speak to the remote to find programs. Speaking of programs, you can add virtually any TV app like Disney+, Peacock, HBO Max, etc. I did have one minor annoyance. The HDMI input on my TCL TV didn't work well with the Chromecast with Google TV. I had to manually set it to HDMI 1.4.

I have no interest in YouTube/Google Music. I appreciate the need to pay artists royalties but for me this is just noise I need deleted. A YouTube premium subscription forced to purchase everything. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product! Love this little thing! Super convenient and it’s nice not having to use the Amazon fire stick, just use android from the source. Google assistant is much smarter and the AI in general of Google’s tv OS is miles ahead of most of the competition. I do use this next to the new Apple TV and while I prefer the chrome cast overall, I do wish it was faster navigating in the OS. It could really use a powerful processor, maybe the Tensor chip? Wouldn’t mind having nicer materials on the remote as well, maybe aluminum or a bit more heft and the finish of the pixel on it. The remote is intuitive though which is a plus. I think that would really bring it to the next level.

I have used many different android boxes over the years and they were only ever as good as the day they arrived, few if any received updates and despite costing more than the Chromecast, the hardware failed regularly. Step in Google Chromecast and that ALL changes. Regularly updated OS, fully compatible apps, rock-solid hardware and a practical, voice enabled remote make this an infinitely superior product. Have other streaming devices (Apple TV, Roku etc) and they just don't cut it. Limited, poor performing apps or clumsy remote. Already added Chromecast to every TV in the house and recommend it to everyone.

The problem is with my older non smart TV the picture over hangs the screen boundaries so you miss out on a decent portion of the screen. I bought that this because I have a non smart tv. So in order to get the proper picture I need a new tv. What is really stupid is that almost every new tv has all these apps on the tv itself therefore I will not need the chrome cast when I get a new tv. Overall a nice product that needs to be far more compatible with older devices. I thought the whole point of the CC was to make an older tv have smart tv features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than my older Chromecasts My televisions each have a previous model Chromecast (sans remote) and I've used them alongside my set top boxes, and FireTV sticks.But I don't really enjoy using my phone or pad as a controller; I guess I just like buttons, and an interface on the TV itself.This new Chromecast is excellent. It handles all my subscriptions (whether Google owned or not). Makes suggestions, searches all those same subscriptions when I'm looking for something. The key board's okay, but the voice recognition makes everything easier, which I'm just getting used to using. I like it, surprisingly enough to me.Good price, now I'll be replacing my older models in the next little while. Slowly, but surely.

Je n'arrive toujours pas à ouvrir la télé directement à partir de la manette tel que mentionnée.Fonctionnalités: il s'agit d'une très belle amélioration et de flexibilité en se connectant directement aux principaux réseaux de contenu tel que Netflix et etc. Toutefois, il aurait été intéressant de pouvoir inscrire des raccourcis vers des diffuseurs directs de postes publics gratuits de type Radio-Canada, Télé Québec ou autre.Conclusion : un bon appareil, élégant, et auxfonctionnalités très flexibles. Je le recommande.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chromecast with Google TV - switched from Apple TV Needed to update my older Apple TV to view YouTube after that last update and decided to go with Chromecast to accommodate 4k at a reasonable price. This device was super easy to set up, works great with my Galaxy Note 9. It did take a little getting used to the Chromecast interface after using Apple TV for years but over the last couple of weeks I'm feeling more comfortable. Integrates nicely with my Nest doorbell and two exterior cameras too. I miss no access to iTunes and Apple Store movies etc, but also know most of that is available in different formats with Chromecast - I just need to become more aware of the apps. I'm pleased with this device - no hesitation to recommend it.

Will you be able to get local channels and stop having to use an antenna?

There are Service that provide access to Local channels, but you'll prob end up paying 1 way or another. What I found works best for our Home is I added and OTA Antenna, then added a Silicon Dust HD-Homerun box to feed the signal from my Antenna to my home Wi-Fi Network, that way i could view local channels on any of my Devices, Google TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Etc. Etc. Yes I had to pay the cost up front, for the Hardware but Good thing is its a 1 time cost. I've been using this system for over yrs now and very Happy with it, especially when i don't have to run COAX cable to each and every TV.

This is a streaming device like Amazon Fire Tv, Roku, etc. You’ll need an internet connection and access to a paid (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu) or unpaid app to view content. You can view TV but will need to subscribe to a live streaming tv plan like what’s offered through Hulu and YouTube TV.

Mirror Cast no you can however Chromecast, built from any Android, iPhone, Windows, or Mac Computer. Chromecast does require Chrome Browser on computers and Google Home on iPhone. It has solved many an argument in the family as we have not found anything that we can not Cast to the unit via Chromecast.

No. Watch profiles for Chromecast with Google TV will not be offered for each person in your household. It depends on the streaming services you're subscribed with if they offer profiles and it'll still show up once you open the app in Google TV.
