Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second one! :) I just bought my second Google Home on sale at HD because it is so useful, had to have another for second floor. In the kitchen, you can get help with cooking - it accesses cooking sites and will give you substitutions, whole recipes, conversions etc. It works with my smart hubs (wink, hue) turns lights off/on/dim...will play any music you ask free and the sound quality is excellent for me. It can make free voip phone calls now as well and the quality is great! Also you can ask it to turn Netflix on to specific movie/tv shows. Weather, news, shopping lists - so many things! :) Love, love, love this thing

It does not support many smart device like alexa, but its better than alexa. Google update is better we can choose the morning news , sports , etc . also it support tp-link light. its good to see the light on by voice command , you can have timer , reminder and to do list by just voice command

This is an amazing Smart Home accessory to start you on your way to converting your home into a "Smart Home". To capture all the immediate value from this device you should also get the Google ChromeCast Ultra and it will allow you to power your flat panel TV (must be HDMI-CEC compliant which all current TV are) on and off, switch to YouTube, NetFlix, and HBO Now. if however you don't have a ChromeCast you you can still use this device to make FREE phone calls, use this as a voice alternative to the Google web browser. Google Home is setup using Android/Apple tablet or smartphone and once installed allows you to also power your home lighting, video surveillance systems, door locks, thermostats, the list goes on and on. What makes this even more attractive is the fact Home Depot is currently selling this Google Home for under $100....sweet deal!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bought this after having a Google Home Mini for a... Bought this after having a Google Home Mini for a while, mostly because it was super cheap (on closeout?). I had heard that the Google Home had better sound, but I honestly don't think so. It seems bass heavy, even after going into the settings and adjusting the EQ. Not a big deal, you probably wouldn't notice unless you A/B'd them. The Home probably does sound better at louder volumes, but this one is used for the bedroom, so I don't need it blasting. I got it for less than three Hamiltons, so still a decent value.

The Google Home responds to the wake phrase "Ok Google" you then can ask it a question. Things like the time, the weather, and most general questions can be answered by Google Home. The quality of the speaker is very good considering the size of the unit. You can listen to pandora, google music, etc. I really like the fact that I can ask for any song and google home will find it and play it. I would like to change the wake phrase but at this time you aren't able to. There is a button on the back of the unit to shut off the mic if you don't want to be listened to all the time. The volume can be adjusted by touch or by asking google to increase the volume. All in all a very cool piece of modern technology. i would recommend.

Setting it up using the Google Home app was very easy following its steps and completing in no time. You choose your sources for music, news, sports, etc. With software updates Google is constantly adding to its response effectiveness to inquiries and the smart devices that it can operate. Linking it to my Wink hub was quickly done and now I can just speak to control my lights rather than running through all the steps in the Wink app on my phone. For music or the radio, the speaker quality is very good and its omnidirectional design adds to its great sound. The treble and bass range is good at all volume levels. It's so easy to listen to music or news by using just your voice. It understands your commands even if they're not perfectly formulated - just give it the basic idea and it usually figures out what you're trying to say. Use your normal voice as it is very sensitive and can understand you even when you're across the room. The top is also a touch sensitive control pad for Pausing the audio, changing the Volume and starting a Request or command. If you want some privacy, there is a Mute button on the back. Also on top are colored lights that come on when it's activating something or shows you the volume level. I'm learning more and more everyday the things that it can be used for, like a timer for cooking or a source for listening to pod casts. Lots of things that you use the internet for, instead of using a tablet or computer you can just talk to your Google Home. Instant music and information. Pretty cool!

I started out with just the mini, and I liked it so much I bought the one pictured above to use in another room...I think the one above may do more stuff, but I'm pretty tech challenged and even I could set these up...I used the mini in my home office to listen to music...the other one is tied into my cable stuff...hope that helps!!
