Two weeks later while I was away in Europe I really got to test the Nest Cam IQ features and WOW!! The picture quality, notifications and zone alert features really put my mind at peace that my pets were doing well. The most powerful feature is the ability to review uploaded video for any day by the hour, minute etc... Now I can tell if the pet sitter came in when she was suppose to ... If the pets were misbehaving or if my family members/friends were sitting on my couch with their shoes on and drinking my beers....

Don't waste your money unless you want to be tied into a lifetime subscription! You cannot use anything but live stream if you don't want to pay monthly or yearly, and their support agents have no CLUE how it works without a subscription! Every conversation I have with them, they give me steps and choices that don't exist because I don't a subscription. There is no little box to help you find whatever MOTION triggered the event. No SD or Mini SD card slot. It uses ALOT of bandwidth to constantly record things "in the cloud", so check your allotment with your ISP before making this a part of your home security system. I really thought Google was the safe choice here, but I was SO WRONG and I regret this purchase every single day!

The best thing about the Nest Cam Indoor was how easy it is to get it set up and working right out of the box. Next generation Nest Cam IQ Indoor is $100 more and is missing a mounting bracket, so you can glue it to the wall or spend an extra $15 for a mounting bracket, but do not call Nest support to request a "free" bracket, unless you don't mind wasting 42 minutes of your time and waiting 7 business days to get it delivered. I was given a special waiver, where I don't have to wait for snail mail and the bracket will be delivered next business day. That promise was made almost six days ago and still no sign of the bracket. I've been waiting 2 days to get a reply e-mail with the tracking number. Nest customer support is a joke a really bad joke!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from unless you pay monthly blood money features go away and your left wirh a $20 camera Nest severely limits the usefulness of its cameras to gouge you. Any benefit to an IQ cam is gone if you do not pay monthly blood money. There is no means to record video other than through them, not so with most other cameras, and In order to do so one must pay the equivalent of a camera every year or so in subscription. Take the price of this camera and multiply by a factor how many years you plan to own to get the real price.

Everyday he is responsible for getting himself to and from school as a walker. I love that I can easily check in with him to make sure he's getting out the door in time, or that he's arrived home safely. Added bonus that I can actually hear/speak with him! This is the first year he's ever had to be so responsible, and having the Nestcam makes him feel more secure. Thank you so much for developing a great product & application... It makes -this- single working Mom's life a LOT easier [=

The Nest camera gave me a camera that not only monitors the house, it gives me alerts, facial recognition and the ability to talk to anyone in the room. The design is sleek and fits into almost any design. It's much better than any other camera I've seen and 100% better than the ADT indoor camera. Installation was as easy as plugging in a lamp. Since I have Nest Smoke Detectors I just had to hit the button on the detector and the camera synced right to the wifi, done. It cannot get any easier than that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra Eyes on the Older Parents With octogenarian parents still in their own home, and a stream of health care aids coming and going, two Nest IQ with Nest Aware have given us peace of mind, that we can check in at any time, monitor both the old folks and strangers in the house and have the ability to look back 10 days should there be any issues. Set up was simple, connected to the app I already had for our thermometer and with a couple clicks I can acces our home or my parents. Definitely worth the cost and will likely expand network with outdoor cams and maybe the doorbell in the spring.

What if someone cuts off electricity?

To cut off someone's electricity from the outside one needs to remove the meter or cut the service wire to the home. Both require a great deal of effort and tools-not to mention the risk of electrocution. Most meter bases are special keyed for removal. If the intruder manages to get inside, the homes electric box will need to be located to flip the main. By then the camera has possibly recorded the event and if alerts are set and or cloud recording established then it is too late. Gotcha!
