Rated 1 out of 5 by from If you're new to pro foam use sika instead Foam is foam and that's not the issue. This sits very poorly on your foam gun. It sprays out of the sides and not the nozzle even if it's screwed all the way in. I now have a gun I have to spend who knows how long cleaning. As soon as it sprayed out the sides I removed it and cleaned it. Plugged in a bottle of sika foam and it worked without hitch. So I then thought, okay, my fault, and put the great stuff can on again and it did the same thing. In order to not waste a 20 dollar can I tried to get as much out as possible... Another mistake because it's covered now. The rubber gasket on the sika brand seems to be a much, much better thought out product.

Does the 'Great Stuff' spray foam insulation act as a vapour barrier?

All GREAT STUFF products are polyurethane-based and offer superior performance advantages over latex products. two questions: 1) is this an open or closed cell product and 2) is this a minimal expansion foam? Thanks

Asked by: Nitrous
This is a closed cell product unless you cut it, in which case the cells at the cut line are open. The next layer of cells will still be sealed. This is also high expansion. I used it to fill large gaps.

I had an energy assessment of my home, & was told that I could improve drafts by using sealant around my interior windows. Will this work?

Asked by: Anonymous
Dow only recommends the use of Great Stuff (TM) Window and Door to be used in this application. The makers of GREAT STUFF™ are setting the standard for the method that windows and doors should be installed. GREAT STUFF™ Window & Door foam sealant is exclusively formulated to air-seal the gap between a window or door frame and its rough opening. All GREAT STUFF™ products are polyurethane-based and offer superior performance advantages over latex products. Window and door manufacturers such as Pella** Corporation have tested and endorsed GREAT STUFF™ Window & Door. Proprietary low-pressure formula designed not to bow or bend window and door frames Ideal for filling or sealing other areas where low-pressure flexible foam is desirable Forms a durable, airtight and water-resistant bond Quick cure time. Tack free in eight minutes, trims within one hour Paintable, sandable and stainable Yellow colored foam Repels/deflects water Conforms to ASTM & AAMA standards One 12 oz. can of Window & Door foams up to four to six average sized residential windows (36’ x 60”, 3/8” wide gap, and 1” deep) Provides real insulation value which complements energy efficiency of the window or door. Greater insulating value than chinked fiberglass or caulk Flexible foam permits expansion and contraction Soft, pliable foam is forgiving, easier to remove if gap is overfilled. Cured foam can be stuffed back into the gap without trimming. GREAT STUFF™ Window & Door meets or exceeds all industry standards for the installation of exterior windows, doors and skylights.

This product requires the use of a GREAT STUFF™ Pro foam dispensing gun for application. Interior and exterior . Can you confirm the fireblock. Product in stores says nothing . And is not Orange. Thx

Does the 'Great Stuff' spray foam insulation work for exterior cracks of the houses?

Asked by: Chad
Yes, GREAT STUFF ™ Insulating Foam Sealant products can be used outdoors, but are very sensitive to UV light. The foam must be painted or coated with a UV resistant coating if used outdoors. Exposure to UV light, even indirect sunlight, will cause the foam to darken to an orange or reddish brown color in a matter of days or weeks. Constant exposure to direct sunlight will eventually cause the foam to break down and crumble apart.

-What's the difference between Great Stuff and Great Stuff Pro? -Does Great Stuff Pro come with a "Smart Dispenser" like the regular Great Stuff does? -I'm attaching insulation foam board. Is there another product you'd suggest /w a dispenser/nozzle?

Asked by: Curious
There are two key differences between Great Stuff™ and Great Stuff Pro™ products: Great Stuff™ uses a straw dispenser; Great Stuff Pro™ has both straw- and gun-applicator options to dispense foam. Can sizes are larger with Great Stuff Pro™ series, so yield is greater. Please visit the following website for more information: https://www.greatstuff.dupont.com/product-gallery.html

Is this fire proof

I need to caulk around new heat plenums and pipes. Will this burn if the pipes get hot?
Asked by: Anonymous
Great Stuff (TM) should not be used around any heater, furnace, fireplace or recessed lighting fixture where it contacts heat conducting surfaces. The foam will burn if exposed to open flames or sparks from high energy sources such as a welding torch, and it will start to thermally degrade if exposed to temperatures above 240F for long periods of time. The cured foam can handle ambient temperatures up to 240F before thermal degradation starts, which means the foam will break down and could begin to burn. Please make sure that any surface that the Great Stuff foam comes in contact with stays within the temperature limits stated..
