Unit is large, and with two hoses, it takes up a lot of room. The way the bottom drain is situated, it makes it very hard to drain the water, and does not come with a draining hose. The unit has to be tilted backwards to drain the water, and the drain is about an inch off the ground. This unit is rated as "quiet", and that would depend on what you would consider quiet. It is not quiet. If you have it in a room where you are watching TV, you will have to turn the volume way up. Also, does not cool as well as the window units. I will be ordering a window unit, and will put this unit in another room. I am not happy with it, but I also don't want to have to install 3 window units, which is why I am keeping it.

Cools and dehumidifies very well. We have casement windows but after reviewing some ideas off of YouTube using Lexan to install it works great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from YOU will need duck tape 2 major flaws. Doesn't shut off when temps are reached,so it fan blows hotter air when compressor shuts off instead. 2nd inexcusable flaw, window adapter doesn't stay on the plate,so duck tape=ugly and constant coming undone. Engineering design flaw in the hose attachment to the unit as well.

First thing to remember is once you get the unit in your house, let it sit until the next day before turning it on, the oils, coolant, etc. Need to redistribute and settle in. I see a lot of reviews where it seems like they get home and start it up, that’s bad. Second thing, if your getting lots and lots of water and having to dump it, you should get a cheap garden hose, cut it short, and use the drain plug, garden hose, and water pan, that way it will run without shutting off. It’s not the fault of the a/c if it’s in a really super humid area. Third, seems to have nice cold air, and good amount of air flow. Remember no portable unit is as efficient (as good) as a window unit. Lastly, although I like the unit, quality, etc. they really dropped the ball on the hose connections to the window panel. They have small plastic pieces that are supposed to hold the hoses in place, but forget it, when you install it go ahead and use screws or something strong to hold them in place because they will fall out

How can I install a permanent drain on the unit to the outside? Do I use the top or the bottom drain hole to attach a hose?
Asked by: Curious
I don't know if you can. The unit has to be tilted backwards for the water to drain out. I haven't found a way. Maybe Haier can help you with that.

What is the SEER rating for this unit? What is the max high outside temperature this unit will operate?
Asked by: Nick
I do not know the seer rating. I am also not sure about the max outside temp for this unit. But I will say that today it is about 90 degrees outside, and our unit has been running all morning, and it is showing it is 76 degrees in this room.

I BOUGHT THIS UNIT BECAUSE IT'S CALLED 'PORTABLE' AND IS ON CASTERS. CAN I MOVE IT FROM ROOM TO ROOM, COLLECTING THE WATER IN A PAN, WITHOUT ATTACHING IT TO A WINDOW FOR VENTILATION WITH THOSE AIR-IN AND EXHAUST HOSES? (PAGE 7--During Use and After Use) OF THE USER MANUAL DISCUSSES THE WATER TANK, WHICH IS WHY I BOUGHT IT.)

I don't want the inlet hose to suck in outside air.

I would think that is a "fresh air" system. I live in Florida and just need to cool my workshop. I am thinking the inlet air left open to my shop environment would be like a "max" air cooling condition. The Haier answers neglect the questions asked and mention the exhaust connection. Of course you need that hooked up but I don't think the inlet is not necessary for maximum cooling.
Asked by: Phatjules
The reason for the inlet hose is so the air density is balanced. Without it there would be negative air pressure which would actually decrease cooling efficiency because every little tiny crack and crevice would allow hot air to be sucked into the room. And I agree with you about Haier, they do a terrible job of actually answering a question

Is there a Fan Only mode?

I'd like to be able to turn of the AC periodically and just use a "fan only" mode bringing in outside air that way. I think this mode is especially important at night when the AC kicking off and on tends to wake me up. Does this unit offer a "fan only" mode?
Asked by: yoop1
Yep
