can't seem to take out lightbulb-needs replacing, any ideas?

If you use rubber gloves gripping the face of the light bulb will be much easier. Using your thumb and forefinger grab the edge of the ftont of the light bulb. Push in slightly and turn a quarter turn counterclockwise and the bulb should come out.

I was taking down the old fixture in my bathroom and noticed there is a transformer connected to the old fixture. Do I need to use a transformer for this fixture?

The fixture you reference from the home depot.com is 120V and does not use a transformer. It is direct wire. The fixture you are taking down sounds like it is low voltage, 12V, hence has a transformer. This fixture would also use low voltage bulbs. I would remove the fixture and the transformer and replace it with a 120V fixture.

Can you use LED bulb on this?

Hi, Thank you for your question. Yes, LED bulbs are compatible with this light fixture, however, the LED bulb will not illuminate the glass the way the halogen bulb does. The LED bulb only projects light from the front of the bulb.
