Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Well. After installing under new breakfast bar with new bar counter I went and pulled to open the middle drawer and the entire front face of door came right off! Not a happy person. It was adhered to with two staples, one on each side and what I assume is glue. The fibre board/glue tore into pieces. I approached Home Depot about a replacement drawer and was told that Hampton Bay will not replace. I’d have to order a whole new cabinet and hope I get a discount or something. To deal with Hampton Bay themselves. No idea how to get ahold of Hampton Bay! Run away from this product unless you have carpentry skills, which mine are certainly limited.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Build quality is terrible. Shipping is bad. I bought two. One arrived with a massive dent in it, clearly from shipping. Obviously, an oops. I'm surprised it made it all the way to me, instead of this being fixed before delivery. I make a return claim, and a new order. Now my project is delayed the extra construction and delivery time. I received my replacement order. It arrived damaged on the drawers. I inspected the other cabinet more closely, and it has weak construction quality as well, the screws are in on angles, not flush or snug. I strongly reccomend you do not buy these preconstructed models. The customer service was also poor. I was able to get returns and replacements, but it takes forever and I have to explain myself over and over again.

Doors and drawers not lining up precisely, and having to reset them to plumb. Or drawers that come out farther on one side than the other. For this 9 inch, it was fine, I just had to reset the hinges to plumb and level. And shim it to match the height of the others as it wasn't even.

Are the outside side faces of the cabinet box the Dusk (Brown) colour like in the picture? I plan on putting the pantry cabinet on the end so the side will be visible.

no. you use shims to level. we are tall so built and leveled a 2x2 base to set the cabinets on, then stained (mixed espresso and ebony together) and cut my own spacers and kickplate as well as made shelves as this collection is limited in options with some popular sizes not available like 33"

What kind of wood is this cabinet made of?  Can it be painted?  Is it possible to get the cabinet with no finish / stain?

It's made of MDF. The cabinet comes prepainted and finished in a dark brown. I doubt you can get this unfinished since it's not real wood, however, it is very nice and solid for what it is.

In a previous response you wrote, "The cabinet is constructed with a furniture grade wood box (particle board) with wood face fronts.". Of what wood are the "wood face fronts" made and are they solid wood? Can the fronts be sanded & painted?

I believe the wood face fronts are made of maple as it is a fairly hard wood and doesn't ding easily. The fronts could probably be sanded and painted if you wanted but it would be a lot of work. Might be better off going with an unfinished cabinet and then paint the color you want.
