In a previous response you wrote, "The cabinet is constructed with a furniture grade wood box (particle board) with wood face fronts.". Of what wood are the "wood face fronts" made and are they solid wood? Can the fronts be sanded & painted?

I believe the wood face fronts are made of maple as it is a fairly hard wood and doesn't ding easily. The fronts could probably be sanded and painted if you wanted but it would be a lot of work. Might be better off going with an unfinished cabinet and then paint the color you want.

What kind of wood is this cabinet made of?  Can it be painted?  Is it possible to get the cabinet with no finish / stain?

Hello Elaine, Thank you kindly for your question. The cabinet is constructed with a furniture grade wood box (particle board) with wood face fronts. We also do not recommend painting or staining the unit as modifications void your Limited Lifetime Warranty and may affect the integrity of the cabinet. We hope this helps. Best Regards.

Merci d'avoir posé la question. L'armoire Edson Dusk est fabriquée avec un panneau de particules de qualité mobilier. La porte est en bois de hêtre avec un panneau central en placage. Merci ~ Sherri

Can this be painted?

I’m a researcher and found this for The Hampton Bay cabinets use thermofoil, which is basically plastic, over an MDF or other man-made core. Frankly, if you're going to buy cabinets you would be better off buying cabinets that are designed to be painted. Painting over thermofoil can be problematic and some even view it as a temporary solution.
