Are these any good in shady areas? Having trouble finding solar lights that will work in my garden.

Regularly prune nearby shrubs and trees. Any plant, tree or shrub that may block the sun for part of the day needs to be regularly pruned to make sure your solar panels have full sun exposure. Because your lights rely on sunlight, this task will need to be completed regularly. Depending on the growth rate of surrounding trees and bushes, you may need to prune them as often as once per month. Placement of a solar light is all-important. For best results, the solar cell should face south and positioned on an angle so it is perpendicular to the sun. The surface of the solar cell should not be shaded by foliage or structures at any time during the day. If the light has an automatic on-off sensor, it should not be placed near any other bright light source, such as a street lamp, because it may cause the light to shut off prematurely.
