The push button eventually degraded and totally disintegrated, and I've finally replaced it. At that time I also installed 2 other identical buttons in shaded areas, and they are still fine. Maybe it's just me, but a device like this should be able to last a lot longer.

We just installed this and we have to press it hard for it to make any sound at all, and then it only makes sound as you're pressing it. Is this because of the button or the doorbell itself? Or is it just because it's new? Will it "loosen up"?

Hello, The diode come with the chimes that need them installed on the button. The diodes do not come with the buttons.
