Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cracked in Half With minimal used the wedge cracked in half. Admittedly, I was hitting the wedge on its side to remove it from the log. Still shouldn't crack in half.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Wedge As another reviewer pointed out, does anyone even know how to properly use a wedge? I used this wedge all summer and through the fall to split logs that I couldn't split alone using my maul. To the people complaining about it being too blunt, have you considered sharpening it? It is not supposed to cut wood, just split it. I basically used it like I would with a nail and a hammer: I would set the wedge in the middle, use a sledge hammer to tap it in a little ways until it will stand on its on, then I give it a few good whacks to drive that sucker into the log until it splits! It has worked every time and has yet to fail me. My only complaint is that I didn't buy a wedge soon enough!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Kind of pricey. Doesn't sharpen properly I think it is interesting that HD lists several $6-7 wedges online but they only sell the house brand wedge in the store for about twice the price. This wedge is fair, but the edge doesn't taper on both sides so you can only sharpen in from one side. That offset edge (like a wood chisel) also means that the tip will drift a little in the wood as you are hitting it rather than go straight in. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of. And yes, you should sharpen a splitting wedge occasionally, but this one has a very blunt nose even when sharpened. It will not hold in the wood with a light tap like most wedges do. There are better wedges for the money or similar wedges for less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made for efficiency Functions well as designed to effectively split wood, without deformity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sermon Illustration - The Devil can split us open w/sin! Woks as agreed. I used this for a sermon illustration from the pulpit. Everyone loved it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A descent wedge For the reviews that said it's blunt and won't split they never obviously used one before because like anything including knives you have to sharpen them before you use them. I've had wedges since I was a kid and every year for about 5 minutes you have to go to the grinder and give it an edge. Same as a mower blade, or a kitchen knife. Don't listen to the bad reviews they don't know how to use the tools they bought.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Waste Of Money And Time This wedge is virtually worthless. The design is terrible, with an edge that is not sharp at all, with but a blunt tip that does nothing unless you beat it to death. Get one that has a sharp edge, don't waste your time and effort on this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This wedge works better than other wedges I've tried To me it seems the Bad reviews of this wedge are people that don't have a heavy hammer. I use this wedge to split Oak, Pine, and local hardwoods.
