This oversized Imperial Shatterproof Adjustable Air Deflector functions as a vent cover for floor registers, deflecting warm or cool air away from walls or furniture for optimal coverage in any room. Ideal for use with central forced air heating and air conditioning systems, it provides comfortable, circulated airflow and energy savings. The air deflector is made from clear shatterproof plastic for lasting reliability, and it adjusts from 9-in to 15-in to accommodate a variety of register sizes. Attached magnets allow for easy and secure installation on metal floor registers, and self-adhesive gripping tape is included for use with plastic and wood floor registers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Magnets suck. Very disappointed. The two I bought (as per the picture) look like they have magnets on the side. Extremely weak magnets; making them useless. The package come with velcro stickies that can be used in addition to/or as a substitute. However, using the velcro creates a gap (as the thickness of the velcro raises the cover) reducing the over-all effectiveness of the device. I'm sure I could get this working just fine with duct tap - but my wife wouldn't be impressed. These aren't going to be hold and I can foresee them being kicked around for a couple weeks and then end up in the garbage. Waste of money; but cheap-enough not to spend the gas/time to return them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable and does the job. So much nicer to feel the heat at foot level. I don't bother using the included velcro strips, I just position them around my vents and scoop them up when I'm vacuuming or mopping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dangerous do not buy Magnets too small and the tiny faulty velcro strips that are meant to reinforce adherence to the metal vent don’t work! DO NOT USE ON A WALL VENT as the force of the air through vent blows the deflector off. Ours luckily blew off in the night, otherwise someone walking below could have been seriously injured by the sharp edges.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adjustable Air Deflector I have a bed sitting roughly 1.5 ft above the bedroom heater air van. I need to buy the adjustable air deflector so that the air will blow at 180 degree angle instead of 90. It will be sitting permanently without anyone touching it. So far so good from what I see. The magnet on both side is quite strong without lifting the air deflector off the grill.

Can it be used on top of an electric fireplace to divert the heat?

I believe that the fireplace will be hot! The air deflector is a cheap plastic and  I  think it may melt if it gets REALLY HOT! It’s great with gas heat, spreads the heat to colder corners.

Just bought these and they work well.  Will write a good review after my question is answered.  What are the small white enclosed pads in each package to be used for? There are 2 white pads with each deflector 1 inch by 1/4 inch.  Thanks.

These are self adhesive Velcro strips. If your register is not steel and the magnets won't stick, you put one piece of Velcro on the floor/register and the other one on the deflector so it will stay in place.
