Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw, powerful and easy to use on concrete blocks, mortar cement etc. This is an impressive concrete saw that is sturdily constructed and cuts through concrete building blocks and mortar very easily. The kit includes everything needed to get going including two Hilti concrete saw blades, the depth gauge accessory, an adapter to convert from the 110V twist lock plug to the conventional 3 pin 110v mains plug (if needed) and a large lockable carry case for storage. Attaching the supplied Hilti concrete cutting wheel is pretty straightforward and has to be done before the depth gauge is fitted (if you plan to use the depth gauge). The saw comes with a reversible arbor to accept two different sizes of concrete cutting wheel center hole. I had to press out the silver arbor adapter in the center of the supplied Hilti cutting wheel (using a flat screwdriver and a couple of taps from a hammer) to get it to fit on the arbor however. The saw comes with a blade nut wrench and much like an angle grinder, there is a push button on underside of the saw that allows the blade to be locked for cinching down the blade nut. To fit the depth gauge, you slide out the axle on the front wheel assembly, add the depth gauge and then refit the front axle and spring clip. I found the depth gauge was particularly useful since I was demoing a concrete block wall and wanted to avoid the rebar that had been encased in concrete in the middle of the blocks. I was able to set the depth gauge at 3” which did the job very well. The final adjustment is to lock the motor body onto the saw blade at the angle you want to work at. This is done using the included hex key and allows you to set the handles of the saw at a variety of angles depending on the job. Since we were using a 110V outlet, we used the supplied adapter to convert the twist lock plug to a conventional 110V plug. This allows you to use the saw with conventional 110V outlets or with generators. The heavy gauge electrical lead that comes with the saw is around 6-8’ long and stays well out of the way when in use. The trigger switch on the saw also comes with an interlock, preventing it from accidentally being squeezed and the saw starting up before it is intended. A few weeks ago, a drunk driver managed to demolish our front wall by our driveway. Since the wall is concrete blocks covered in pre-cast river rocks, I needed some way to dismantle the 8 x 8 x 16 concrete blocks without destroying the precast river rocks that were on the underside of the wall when it was pushed over in the accident. By sawing down the mortar lines, I was able to get the blocks to free up sufficiently to allow a gentle sledgehammer blow to free up the river rocks underneath and was able to save around 90% of them intact. I also used the saw to saw the block vertically in half to make it easier to break up and there was no kick back as the saw went into the concrete blocks. It had no trouble dealing with the concrete that had been poured around the rebar either, thanks to the 23 amp motor. The saw is quite heavy weighing in at around 20lbs so the wheels on the front of the blade guard make it much easier to get the saw blade started. If you’re using the depth gauge, you just start the saw on the cut and let the weight of the saw compress the depth gauge to the desired height and push it through the job. There is also a ridge cast into the blade cover which helps line the blade up with the cut you want to make. I didn’t notice any kickback if you use the saw in this way, although I had to exert some gentle pressure in a few places, particularly when cutting through the concrete blocks. This was my first time using a concrete saw and I found it very easy. Since we were using the saw outside, we didn’t connect it to our shop vac however there is a dust chute with a spring loaded cap built into the blade guard that allows it to be connected to a shop vac to keep the dust under control. Just remember to use a finer concrete dust filter in your shop vac if you plan to do this. The dust wasn’t too bad and a combination of the blade guard and the depth gauge seems to keep most of the dust within the saw so it deposited behind the cut. After use, the saw stores neatly in the ABS plastic container, with specially designed slots for the arbor wrench and the body hex key. The only drawback was that the pre-molded area in the case lid for storing saw blades has an arbor that is too small for the Hilti blades which means the loose blade drops onto the saw when the lid is closed. While we got the saw to work on concrete, it does appear that you can also use fiber reinforced cut off discs if you need to cut metal with the saw. The only caveat is that the plastic depth gauge cannot be used with the fiber cut off discs since presumably the heat and sparks could damage the depth gauge. There are a couple of other notable features on the saw. There is an LED indicator which advises how much more serviceable life there is in the saw. When it first illuminates there are about 10 more hours before an automatic cut out activates and it has to be serviced at a Hilti service center (presumably new brushes and new oil in the gear bath etc.). If you use genuine Hilti parts and keep it serviced, Hilti warrants the saw for life, which is pretty impressive for a power tool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Darn Amazing This product is pretty unbelievable. The saw cut through a cement block like a butter knife with very little effort. I did not realize it would create such a mess without a hose and vacuum (as a novice). Fortunately it was a quick/brief demo but enough to demonstrate the saw is extremely powerful. No power issues because I used electricity from my home. Saw is not very heavy and pretty easy to maneuver. Without hose/vacuum......dusts flies EVERYWHERE! This is a very sturdy saw. Extension cord required as power cord is very short. Comes in sturdy plastic impact resistant storage box and 4 blades. Saw does not come with vacuum, and users should use the dust removal system to extend the life of the tool (and yours). Comes with 2 Year No Cost Wear & Tear Coverage, 20 Year Limited Warranty of defects in materials or workmanship. A no-brainer for builders and carpenters.
