Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, loud for bedrooms It cools our 315 sqft living room (no doors) to bearable temp quickly, so its rating of 350sqft sounds about right. It is loud. Its air blower is way too strong at LOW setting, therefore it cannot run quietly, although its compressor is not that loud. Also it runs to set temp and stops repeatedly, that might disturb sleeping too. BUT TO BE FAIR I couldn't find any quieter rated portables than this one anyway, and its db level was accurate to the spec according to my phone decibel meter. Portable air conditioners are loud, that's just what it is. It doesn't disturb TV watching or anything, just not suitable for quiet bedroom use. So when it's really hot we leave bedrooms doors open and send cool air from living room, paired with regular fan. It works. :-)

It is actually quiet if only the fan is running, at which time the noise level is around 52db. But once the condenser turns on it reaches 60- 70 db!. The noise rating in the specifications are very misleading. I suspect the 49db rating they gave it is if you only run the fan without ac. But what good is that?

We have used the unit several nights now and it works well to cool down our bedroom from 80+ degrees to a comfortable 70 degrees. The 6 foot exhaust hose must be routed outside and all the necessary window devices are included for instillation in any window. The hose was not long enough for me to install without moving furniture so I set the unit on top of our dresser. Looks odd, but works well. I'll put it in storage in the fall. The unit makes a lot of noise, and the first night was noticeable, but we have grown used to the noise.

Like musty, coolant smell..... I have opened the drain holes and let out the water as I read to do. Still stinks!!!!! Not happy! The filters aren't dirty..... 😡😡 What now?
