Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faulty product I liked the modern look of the Britton fan/light and planned to purchase 7. I purchased only 2 fans to make sure that it was the right choice. They were installed by an electrician. The fans worked well but unfortunately the light did not work in both . I called Home Depot and then was connected to customer service (in Mexico). I was told that the company would be in touch with me. I have not heard back in over a week. I have now had the electrician put in two and remove 2! Beware of the product and the customer service.

Installed the fan, everything worked, shut it off with the remote. 30 minutes later the light comes on and the fan is whirling at high speeed, all by itself with no one in the room. After shutting it off with the remote again, 10 minutes later same thing, light cones on fan runs at high speed Called the helpline and after checking with their technical dep't they has no idea what was wrong. I returned the unit, got a replacement, installed the new fan and..... SAME THING! THIS UNIT IS GARBAGE! The store staff were very pleasant and helpful but the quality of the electronics is horrid. After reading the reviews it would appear I'm not the first person with this issue. Home Depot needs to do better!

It replaced an older generation (12 yrs) fan which was beginning to makw @clicking@ sounds. This installation was quite easy to assemble, Eco-Friendly, Functional, Good Size & Weight, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Lots of Features, Modern Design, Stylish, Appears well made. Super quiet. Great warrantee. No humming or strange noises as in some other reviews. Extremely quiet especially on low and medium speeds at night. Very pleased with our purchase. Highly recommend.

I’ve gone and changed the frequency settings on the remote and receiver several times. It does not fix it. Wish most of these other reviews were here when I bought mine. Called the company and they were zero help. Supposed to call me back and never even did.

Defective Remote for sure. Email the manufacturer at service@summer-wind.info with your name, address and request for a new remote.........it needs to be changed out because the batteries should last for years.

Has anyone had any luck connecting these fans to a smart home system? Philips Smart Hub for example?

You might call the philips Smart hub folks. If it is a bridge there may be a way to connect to this fan but I think this would be more on the Philips side. The fan itself it not Wi-FI or blue tooth but if this is a true bridge it could work with the remote system that comes with the fan.

Can this be installed outdoors (covered patio)?

This fan is not rated for outdoor technically. You could do it and the fan would run. The other thing I would worry about would be blade drooping since the blades are plywood.

Dimmers are not compatible with this fan since it is already a remote control. This is why it is humming. The wall switch can only be on/off.
