Rated 4 out of 5 by from No regrets, looks great, painless install. Bought and installed 16 boxes of this flooring 3 months ago. We are pretty experienced diyers and it was a painless installation. Easier than other laminates we have done. We installed over 130 year old pine t&g plank subfloor that is not super even and it was totally fine. As other reviewer said, there is a crackling Sound when you walk on it but it's not that bad (and I'm kind of a sound grouch) and I've definitely had laminate that annoyed me sound wise. We plan to do another room in this same stuff. It looks really great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy flooring We installed this flooring 6 weeks ago and we love the look, However it makes a crackling sound when you walk on it. Almost like your stepping on rice crispies or popping bubble wrap is my best way to explain the sound. We thought the sound would go away but it hasn't. We installed it through our entire house 2,600 sq ft. We are still deciding if we can put up with the sound or rip it up and replace it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking laminate, great price! I bought this laminate because it looked great and was 12mm+2mm underlay and have covered about 600 sq. ft. in kitchen and living room. Now that I've done it, I'll share with you what I've learned. First, ignore the warning against using tapping blocks. I used tapping blocks and it is much tighter fit with tapping vs. just click and lock which I believe will lead to fewer separation issues. I tapped 2-3 times firmly at each end and in middle then tapped from narrow end. A couple of gentle but firm taps will do at each point along its length. Tapping doesn't damage the tongue, grooves but you'll occasionally see a groove edge come loose which was very likely weak already. In some cases, it was my damage. Either way, remove those loose edges to prevent fit problems. I would sometimes glue where edge was missing if it was longer. It also depends on what kind of floor you're putting it onto. If it's a new house with nice, level floors then it should be pretty straightforward. I would still tap, even on a newer, flat subfloor. My house is older and floors have dips and rises here and there. I used filler and self-leveling compound to get it as level as possible but you can only do so much if you want to finish project in reasonable amount of time. The one thing I wish I did was put 1/4 plywood over top of SLC. This would have made for flatter, easier install with fewer dips. If your floor is not flat I would suggest using white glue at the narrow ends to keep the ends from dipping where there might be a little space underneath. I started doing this about 2/3 into project and wish I'd done it from beginning. It might be worth gluing ends even on fairly flat subfloor to keep them from spreading apart over time. I don't think the long side will be an issue with separation. You could also try using high expansion acrylic silicon. This seemed to work as well. I also started using left-over 2mm underlay pieces to shim up some spots where dips remained. I would test as I went and put in 2" wide underlay shims (or wider if needed) and wish I'd done this from beginning. All in all, despite knowing what I now know, I am very happy with the results. Some pops/clicks here and there but very minimal and they'll likely go away. it feels good to walk on and fairly level and small dips/rises mostly noticeable only to me since I'm very conscious of it now but when I forget about it, I don't really notice much. I am very happy with result and the price was great but we'll see how it looks in a year or two. I give this 4.5 stars if it wears well over time. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful - Visitors Can't Tell It's Not Wood I have a "Terrasse" Condo - fancy word for 1/2 basement, 1/2 aboveground LOL. I installed this over DMX 1-Step underlayment. No squeeks, cracking and the floor is toasty warm compared to the cheap 6 mm I ripped out. SOOOO happy I bought this, I laid down 47 boxes and I love it:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Install Easily - Looks Great I bought and installed about 300 square feet of this floor about a month ago. The flooring is a thick 10 mm and comes with a 2 mm underpad attached. The locking system is easy to use and locks securely during installation. Finished installation looks great. A great value at the current price and comparable to much more expensive laminates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flooring This flooring is a great value , and product for the price . Easily goes together with no issues . Comes with its own underlay attached to the underside and is a full12+mm thick . I have laid a lot of Laminate flooring , and this one by far is an excellent product to work with , and it looks GREAT also . Well worth the money .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thick and tricky to start but results look great Found it a little tricky to get the first two rows laid out straight and maintain the connections but once you are into the 3rd row it becomes a bit easier. A rubber mallet and a piece of scrap that mates to the female end of the plank was how I ensured the joints stayed tight so it does take a bit of patience. It is 12 mm thick plus has 2mm of foam backing so if you are using a flooring sheer you will need lots of weight on the handle. Definitely a 2 person operation to lay this stuff. Results look great. Much nicer than old laminate from 20 or even 10 years back

I know this flooring is not water resistant but can it be mopped, if not how is it cleaned? We want to purchase this flooring for our hallway/pantry/kitchen area but I am a bit of a neat freak and mop atleast once a week.

Asked by: TaylorB
Yes it can be mopped for sure. Just water can't be left on it for long periods of time. I am not a clean freak but my cleaners are and they mop it like they would any other floor! All good!

Do I need to remove the foam backing for installation on stairs? Can I also install vertically on stairs? What type of glue do I use on stairs?

Asked by: Paul
We used on stairs and then got non-slip grip nosing for the stairs. We did it lengthways across the stairs and on the riser at the back. We used very strong flooring glue

Can this be installed on stairs. If so what is needed for the edge of the stair?

Asked by: westportsales
Yes but not with ease, we bought separate nosing, one set of stairs we got a similar wood look nosing another set we used brass metal nosing and screwed and stuck into place

The soundproofing/underpad is attached. I asked about the soundproofing number of this attached underpad and was told STC53 and ICC60. I cannot find this rating on the packaging or laminate? I need to show this info to my condo board. Where do I find it?

Asked by: John
Thank you for your interest in Truswell Hickory 12 mm laminate flooring with attached pad. The attached ad is designed primarily to provide a softer feel to the floor and while some sound control results (STC=53, IIC=60) it is insufficient to meet the requirements of most condo/strata corporations. To increase the STC and IIC, please install Natural LVT acoustical/vapour barrier, Home Depot SKUs 1000826529 (100 ft roll), 1000842879 (600 ft roll), before installing the flooring. STC 67 and IIC 71 ratings are clearly marked on the Natural LVT packaging and should meet your condo board requirements.

Can this laminate be connected at a 90 degree angle? That is, can the length of a laminate be connected to the width of a laminate if a layout warranted such a change in direction ...... does it maintain it's integrity in terms of doing this?

Asked by: Cam19
Thank you for your interest in Truswell Hickory laminate flooring. No, the short sides (planks ends) cannot be locked up with the long sides as the long side locking profiles are different than the locking profiles on the plank ends. To accomodate a 90 degree change in direction in an L-shaped room, for example, A T-mold transition (Home Depot SKU 1001010711) can be installed along a straight line where you want the flooring to change direction. Please follow the installation instructions included with the T-mold to ensure a proper expansion gap. We would be happy to discuss your specific situation. Do I have to add more underlayment to my plywood floor if I install this floor?

Asked by: Donna
Thank you for your interest in Truswell Hickory laminate flooring. No, additional underlayment is not permitted. The attached pad is sufficient. If the plywood subfloor is below grade, a moisture barrier (6 mil poly) is required to be installed, with the poly extended up the walls 2-3 inches and corners sealed with weatherproof tape in order to protect the laminate floor.

What is the recommended product for stair threads and risers that matches with this product?

Asked by: KWalia
Yes it is easy to install with the installation kit (sold separately).  Not a good product for durability. First water spill and the joints swelled. Seams don’t stay together.  I wouldn’t recommend.
