Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Bought this unit about 2 1/2 years ago. A year into it I had to replace a selnoid which cost me $100 out of pocket. Was hoping this winter that the new selnoid would last and of course it didn’t. Unit it not very reliable at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality parts This humidifier works pretty good, when it works. I got about a year and a half out of it before the solenoid went on it which causes the water to flow continuously and resulted in a couple of very expensive water bills before we found the problem. A quick Google search will show the solenoid switches in these units have been an issue for years now but Honeywell has yet to fix the issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not too impressed!! I installed the humidifier in the return duct as it says that it is acceptable. There is no way to install it in the supply duct in my particular case. The humidity level went up to 25% when the humidistat was set for 40%. The humidity level went up to 35% when the humidistat was set for 60% with the inconvenient that the amount of water it goes out of the drain is outrageous. I measured actually to be about 4 gallons every 5 min. If it was not for the amount of work involved with the installation I would have returned back. I believe this is one of the best systems in the market which is a petty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing parts Bought this after having to bring my honeywell he360 due to a solenoid problem. Well this one has parts missing from the solenoid itself, which is very annoying because there is a bit of work involved in installing one of these things. Called Honeywell and they don’t even bother talking about sending spare parts. “Tell Home Depot about the missing parts..” pretty sure Home Depot didn’t make the unit!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Decreases the furnace efficiency I bought He280 two week ago from Home Depot (Morningsige) and installed it and is working, no problem so far, but I should mention that the dimensions indicated in Home Depot are wrong. My unit (He280) is approximately 12 1/2"W x 15 1/2"H x 9 1/2"D. I checked Honeywell site and they do not show the dimensions in the specifications. Now the review: The heated air from furnace supply duct flows through the filter (pad), then through the by-pass, and to the return duct to be recycled back to the furnace. The size of the by-pass duct (6" diameter) is approximately 9% of the size of furnace output duct(Trane S9V2); that means you lose 9% of the furnace output power ALL THE TIME (heated air is being recycled without heating your home). Given that air flow passing through the pad is not as easy (as going free), you are still losing about 5% of the furnace output plus the electricity that is used for the operation of the humidifier. I believe the product design is flawd. I am challanging Honeywell to proove it otherwise

Does this attach to the HRV if you have one or a furnace? Just bought a new house and the RHL is in the high 20s.

Asked by: eejay
Hello eejay! When installing the Honeywell Whole House Bypass Humidifier, here are some suggestions on where to mount the humidifier: • Select a location for the humidifier on the supply (warm air stream) or the return plenum. • Select a location for the bypass on the opposite plenum. The sidewalls of the humidifier are interchangeable to allow bypass duct mounting on either side of the humidifier. • Select a location that cannot damage the air conditioner A-coil during installation. • Select a location where the 6 ft (1.86m) of 6 in. (155 mm) duct provided is adequate to connect the humidifier to the bypass. You will also want to ensure that the humidifier is not located on a furnace body, allow adequate clearance in front and above the unit so that you can remove the cover if needed, mount the unit at least 3 in. above the furnace body to allow enough space for the solenoid valve to drain and mount the unit ins conditioned space to prevent freezing. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Does HomeDepot install the humidifier

Asked by: Less1leg
Yes, homedepot offers a full range of installation services. Head to the contractor services desk and arrange a quote or install. Also, most local heating and cooling contractors are able to install these units, just check qualifications.

howmuch water does it use

Asked by: Anonymous
If you direct wire the unit into the furnace, very little because it only turns on when the furnace calls for heat. If you use the transformer in the box, it will use the 17 gal per day as the water continuously flows through. Have a pro install, can't go wrong.
