Rated 1 out of 5 by from All are failing systematically I bought half a dozen of these when we moved into our house 8 years ago - a considerable investment. Most of them are NOW nothing more than over glorified dial thermostats as the timers no longer turn on the heat at the right times. One of them keeps our heater on all the time now. Total garbage - terrible quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dangerous We have these installed throughout our house. One in the basement says its 35 degrees Celcius when it's likely only 18 in there. One on the main level gets randomly gets stuck and the buttons won't work. Then this morning I went into my toddler sons room to wake him up and I walked into a room heated to 33 degrees. We set the thermostat to 20 like we always have at night, but the thermostat wasn't reading the actual room temperature so it stayed on. It could have easily started a fire. We're replacing all the thermostats in our house bacause of this. If you value the health and safety of your family and like your house in the unburned down condition it is right now then I seriously suggest you don't purchase these honeywell's thermostats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great. Easy to install. I just bought 2 of these programmable thermostats to automatically turn off the heat in a couple of the non-bedroom-rooms at night. Our heating bill has been astronomical and I am terrible at remembering to shut off the heaters at night. I expect these will pay for themselves possibly in the first month if not the first winter. I've read some reviews saying that it is not accurate, but the ones I bought seem to be just fine. You will need to do some "calibration" depending on your room. One of my thermostats is located on an exterior wall so it displays a temperature that is actually lower than what the room feels like. So I just set it 19C instead of 21C. Other factors might include the distance from your baseboard heater to the thermostat. Baseboard heaters by their nature generally have some temperature gradient across the room. Anyways, I am happy with the installation and the first few days of performance. I will update this review if these units happen to conk out prematurely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inaccurate temperature reading and finally died... Like others have reported, this unit reads cooler than actual so you heat more. After arguing with Honeywell and receiving another defective unit, decided to live with it by compensating settings to lower temperatures. Just walked into the room yesterday and it was cold. Thermostat was flashing random patterns and could not be reset. This was running one baseboard rated at half the capacity of this thermostat, so no overheating involved. Not sure why this is still being sold, look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out with the old, in with the Savings Got rid of old style dial thermostats and replace with these, just two wires, then programmed the new thermostats, works like a charm

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I installed this in our weekend home a little over a year ago. I chose it because it was programmable, so we could warm up the house on Fridays before we drove up. The program features never worked, so we used it on manual. But now, 14 months later, it's stopped working on manual as well. It's fine when set at higher temps (21-22c) but when we turn it down (18-19c) it stays off, letting the temp drop indefinitely. Not so nice, waking up in December to find that the house is 14c.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked for 2 years. Broke now! I bought the thermostat 2 years ago and it worked as expected until today. I used it at 240V and had two baseboard heaters connected totalling 3000W. That is the max spec of that thermostat, as a call with honeywell confirmed. Now the thermostat itself is overheating. The Display goes bananas and when I take the cover/display off, the heat sink is too hot to touch. Hands off this product! Honeywell had a recall for melting thermostats in the past... I don't want to burn down the house!

Does this thermostat good for forced air heating furnace system?

    Asked by: ketan
Hello ketan! I do apologize, but unfortunately, the Honeywell 5-2 Day Programmable Electric Baseboard Heat Thermostat is designed to work with line voltage (120-240 volts) heating systems. Compatible system types include baseboard heater, radiant ceiling heating and a convector or fan-forced heater. At first glance, this does not appear to be a thermostat that will work with your system.
