Rated 4 out of 5 by from String little thermostat but a little hard to adjust. The thermostat works and it is really solid, no cheap parts or flimsy pieces, but it is extremely hard to regulate temperature. Since it is so small just moving the temperature setting a millimeter can result in a 5-8 degree shift in the temperature. This is entirely due to the small size and not a flaw in the product. It was, however, the only analog thermostat they had. My reason for going with this one is that the batteries on my programmable digital thermostat died and my disabled mother had an almost impossible time changing them so I wanted one that does not use batteries and for that this works fine.

This thermostat is installed in the home we purchased 9 months ago and there's no way to know if it's working accurately as it does not have a thermometer to know the current inside temp, and it seems to run on when the temp feels it's been reached- no way to know w/out a thermometer. We know the sellers just wanted to replace w/an inexpensive unit to "get by" the home inspection. We'll be replacing this with a new one that's digital and programmable. Again, I'm reviewing this based on whole-home use, not individualized, modified smaller-area use.

HW used to be a standard but I will not purchase any more of their cheap products. years passed I had better luck with other brand names like hunter. am going to order the orbit and give that a try. I would buy a new mercury stat if you could get one. those worked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good for what it was designed for... I am the Maintenance Supervisor at a resort hotel. We needed to replace a few of our current thermostats until we got a test bed of electronic thermostats. I used this Honeywell thermostat as replacements for now and they have performed very well actually. For what they are I didn't think they were going to be around for much more than a few weeks. Surprise! Not only do they do a good job, if they are handled with care and installed correctly, they will be around for some time. I have around a half a dozen on the property at the moment and they operate just like clock work. No problems! In the end you get what you pay for, do not expect superior results from an entry grade product. However, in this case I would have to say that these did a much better job for me than the entry grade they were designed for. If the electronic thermostat test bed does not come soon, I will finish the resort with these installed instead since they have proved that well. Until I get different results, I will continue to purchase and use these. I am using these in a commercial setting and getting good results, I realize that not every situation will pan out for folks, but these seem to do very well for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Honeywell Economy Heat/Cool Manual Thermostat Model # YCT31A1002 - total garbage. I wanted a simple manual non-programmable thermostat to replace an old mercury switch one that had worked well for 25 years. After installing it, my furnace kept cutting in and out, and the on/off "hunting" action also blew my pilot light out several times. On the farm, we don't have an HVAC technician waiting around the corner, so I spent a weekend troubleshooting, trying to figure out what "I" did wrong. No joy. After seeing reviews like this one, the next week I bought a simple Honeywell RTH5160 non-programmable digital thermostat (also from Home Depot), installed it in about 20 minutes, and it worked perfectly.

The thermostat is very easy to use like this so much better than that programmable one I had before, with Military time that thing was a hot mess to deal with. it took me too long and half the time I couldn’t see what I was doing. the most aggravating thermostat I’ve ever owned for the last four years this is very simple and easy to use the only drawback is I can’t just walk up and look at it and tell what the temperature is in the house at any given time but I’ll judge by the way I feel but setting it up or down quickly and Easley is what I want . It is very convenience and not a whole lot a high tech nonsense .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GARBAGE!!!!!!!! This thermostat is complete garbage and is not worth the money. I install one in my garage and it worked for literally a half an hour then quite. DO NOT BUY THIS CHEAP THERMOSTAT!!!!!! Spend a little more and get one that is reliable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT LAST This is the second one of these that I purchased. Though it was a good value, the previous one just stopped working one day and I thought perhaps it was a defect so I replaced it with the same one and sure enough, it just stopped working again, it clicks on but it does not turn the furnace on to heat the zone...of course it stopped working on the coldest day of the year so far. I just think it's cheap and poorly made and though it may work initially, it is not designed to last long--I do not recommend this product, I would spend a bit more money for a better quality, longer lasting product.
