Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I bought this thermostat yesterday, and I was a little worried about installing it because I had another one at my previous home and it was very difficult to instal. The box says it installs in 15 minutes, well it was right. I had the new one installed and running in about 20 minutes. It was very easy to instal and its very easy to program. I compared several thermostats and this one appeared to have everything I needed and the price was great. I think my last thermostat I spent over $150 dollars and this one does everything I need it to do for only $27.00 dollars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money! I bought this thermostat six weeks ago and it has been nothing but a "headache". within the the few weeks of qwning it, I replaced the batteries 3 times. On one occasion the new batteries died within a couple .of days and I came home to an icy cold house in the middle of winter. I am very disappointed as Honeywell is supposed to sell quality products. This unit worked fine for about a month but after that every time I replaced the 2 AAA batteries they would be dead shortly after that. It was a lot of aggravation not only running out to the store to buy batteries, but also to return this thermostat

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A set-it-and-forget-it money-saver Easy to install, fairly easy to set up, and has been working well ever since. I'd have appreciated if it came with more than four intervals you can set (my preference is to have the furnace basically "off" during peak hydro hours, on during the day, on in the evening, very low overnight, and have it warm the house before dawn before peak hours kick in again, which is 6!). But it still helps keep the hydro bill low. Also, it'd be nice if units sold in Canada came pre-set to Celsius, instead of having to figure out how to change that in some obscure settings, which I did.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total hunk of junk We had to return 2 versions of the "updated" model for this thermostat because the screens were defective. We then purchased this model, hooked it up and ... nothing. In addition, you have to pull the front face of it off every time you need to replace the batteries which is really hard to do without damaging the unit and snapping off the little bits of plastic that hold the front face on. Their pricier upgraded model with wifi has a nice little drawer that slides out where the batteries are located. Honeywell purposely made this thing as cheap and poorly designed as possible just so that you are forced into getting the upgraded model in order to get a thermostat that won't fall apart in a year. Practices like this should be made illegal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Thermostat - Works with hot water baseboard Bought this thermostat because we wanted a programmable thermostat for the condo we live in. The condo has hot water baseboard heating and we couldn't figure out why the vents were blasting heat even when we had it turned down to 10 degrees. Turns out this type of thermostat with a condo hot water baseboard heating needs to be set to cool since the system is reversed for the units in a building! Found this out after calling a plumbing/heating company and they came to replace the zone valves that has been open for four days making my place a sauna. Was able to use this thermostat with my heating system even though people in some other stores said it wouldn't work. Glad it works and it's awesome to be able to regulate the temperature more accurately within the unit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value Glad I bought this. The instructions for installation were clear, but the wires to my former thermostat didn't match the diagram for the new one. I called the toll-free number for help, and received an immediate reply (wow!) and in less then 2 minutes they sorted everything out for me. The thermostat is easy to programme and is working perfectly. I couldn't be happier.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected better Works as advertised. However: 1) It is ridiculously difficult to open, even on the table, with its unyielding plastic tabs, stiff internal connector and unhelpful instructions (I am usually considered to very dexterous for such jobs). Now that it's on the wall, replacing batteries will be a challenge. 2) To set it from Fahrenheit to Celsius required careful reading of small print. The rest of the manual is also not user friendly 3) It only displays room temperature, not set temperature (which requires pressing a button). 4) There is no specification for hysteresis (differential between furnace turn-on and turn-off), a very important parameter, nor can it be set. 5) Temperature resolution is 0.5 degrees Celsius, as opposed to 0.1 degrees on the device I replaced (similarly priced), which also had none of the other issues described above. A big step backwards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well The unit was very easy to install, and is working well over the last month I’ve had it. Only wish it had both a reading that shows both setting temp and current temp. It shows current by default and you push a button to get the setting - not a very big deal.

How do I change it over to read Celsius?

Asked by: Steven2
Press the up and down button together for 5 seconds. You will then see 5-5. Keep it there if you have a gas furnace. Press the up and down button together again for 5 seconds and you should see 14-0 (0 is for *F) press the up button to display 14-1 (1 is for *C). Then just leave it there for 60 seconds and it should go back to the main display with *C showing

Does this thermostat has C degrees setting? Why I had only F degree?

Asked by: Yunny
Yes, you can set it to Celsius or Fahrenheit (at least I was able to with mine). "Advanced Installation" instructions for adjusting settings are on page 8 and 9 of the owner's manual. Hold up & down buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds to enter advanced setup mode (a large-print number and small-print number will appear). Press both buttons simultaneously again for about a second at a time until the large-print number indicates 14, then press the up or down buttons alone until the small-print number indicates 1 for C (0 setting means F). Press RUN button to exit setup mode and the display should then be in Celsius.
