Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete garbagr compared to the Nest Bought this and returned it the next day. Set up was easy, really don't know why some complain about the set up if you can follow instructions it's easy. That was the good the rest is all bad. So after setup the first problem was the reading by the unit of the ambient room temperature it was reading it a full 4 degrees celsius above what an independant thermometer was reading the temperature at and that temperature reading is accurate as the Nest was reading it exactly the same as that digital thermometer. So after a quick google search it appears the Lyric has a function to read humidity and outside temperature and adjust the temperature reading yo what it should "feel" like if you don't want that just untick a box in the app setting. Ok so I did that, it adjusted it down by 1 degree! So now it was reading it 3 degrees higher than normal! Strike one. So I devided to test the temperature adjustment in the app... it took forever for the thermostat to get that command and engage the furnace. Now before someone says it's my wifi or isp, the answer is No. The Nest change was instantaneous and my wifi router is the most current at writing this review and my isp is sound with 60 down and 10 up. Strike two! Then the Lyric started resetting several times, so I thought, ok maybe a software update. Ok we'll wait and see 1 hour later it's still doing it, cycling on and off and resetting. Ok let's change the aaa lithium battery. Nope still doing it. Then bang unit stays off. I pull the Lyric off the base, wait then plug it in again, boots up...ok and then starts resetting again. Final strike Three You are out of here! In addition the look and feel of the priduct is cheap and plastic, especially when compared to the Nest which is cheaper! The dial on the Lyric when adjusting the temperature doesn't react quickly and you need to keep cranking it to get it to move up or down whereas again teh Nest is instantaneous. The button for weather function is a good idea, but again you need to push it 2 or 3 times to get it to engage. Given this is more expensive than the Nest and is a cheaper plastic build and feel and the problems I encountered it went back the next day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Love it. Easy installation, though I'd recommend running a C wire to it. That way it's always on. Easy to schedule, very customizable for various heating systems. Rock solid connection with my router (Asus RU-N66U). The app is very simple. My only niggle with the app is that changing some settings require you to reconfigure the Lyric. That means you need to be in front of it as it broadcasts it's own wifi network (which you must connect to) for reconfiguration. My Lyric is also controlling my HRV, so that allowed me to get rid of another unsightly box on the wall. I expect that Honeywell will continue to add features and improve the app as they receive feedback from owners. An added plus is that I don't have to worry about Google data-mining it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best out there Bought this as my current thermostat stop working. The ease of use and install is awesome. For those of you who have a hard time installing items like this, this will be perfect for you. Less than 10 minutes and it was up and running. Even my wife likes the new technology. Buy it, it's worth the money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tons of potential, poor implementation I initially chose the Lyric over a Nest in spite of mediocre professional reviews and terrible customer reviews, because the members of my household have pretty irregular schedules (Nest learning is said not to do well with this). The geofencing feature, the main reason I chose Lyric, worked less than half the time. To add to the frustration, the mobile app often did not communicate with the thermostat, showing different temperature readings on mobile devices than on the thermostat itself, or not noticing manual mode changes. Installation and initial setup is fairly quick and intuitive. However, the menus once set up don't allow much customization; for example, there is no way to switch from imperial to metric units without resetting the device and starting over, and that choice is buried in a setup submenu that is easily overlooked. Lyric has all the features to be an excellent product, if only it worked as advertised. In its current version, though, I strongly urge you to avoid it. I've switched to Nest, using mostly manual scheduling instead of the learning features, and it is hands down more intuitive, with a better, prettier, and more flexible user interface. The reliability of Nest remains suspect, however. My first one had bad Field Effect Transistors out of the box, which is apparently a common problem (most thermostats, including the Lyric, use relays instead of transistors for switching). The second one has been working, so far. I guess I'll try an ecobee3 if the second Nest fails.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from challenging setup Be prepared to have to spend a couple of hours wading through the setup and installation on the app. Lots of snags, including not being able to find my address (rural) in the database so I had to use a city one (so the geofencing thinks I am not at home), and the Honeywell app used to set it up, isn't the same Honeywell app used to interface with the Wink hub, so you have to remove the device details from the original app in order to re-register it with the Wink based app. Also for Canadian customers, the F/C setting is buried in advanced settings so you will have to re-install from scratch to use it. Once you have got over all that, appears to work nicely...!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lyric Makes It That Easy I have been in the market for home automation for quite some time now. Finally, after my existing thermostat failed, I decided to go wireless. My biggest concern with these new 'high tech' gadgets, was the type of wiring that I heard I needed for some of the new products on the market. Our house has 4 wires running to the thermostat. To my relief, the Lyric by Honeywell made it easy and removed my fears of not having the right connections in place. No one wants to add wires to an existing home. The step by step tutorial from the app that you load on your smart phone, walked me through the layout of my wiring from the existing thermostat. With simple prompts, it took my answers and then displayed exactly how I would connect up the wires to the Lyric. Once the wiring is done, and the Lyric is mounted to the wall, it starts up. The tutorial is with you every step of the way, right through to connecting the Lyric to my wireless network, and configuring the default heating and cooling environment. The actual configuration of the Lyric was simple and the fact that it can adjust the temperature of the house based on the weather in my local area was just fantastic. (You don't have to use this feature, but that's part of what today's technology can provide.) The look of the unit is sleek, and it's modern design style makes it a nice addition to the room it's installed in. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Lyric and what it has to offer. I feel this will also help safe me money, as it will work more efficiently based on the flexible programming and the ability for me to make changes even when I'm not at home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a cool Product and easy to use I was on the lookout for Lyric since the day it was first announced. I got it the first day it appeared on Home depot site. It took me less than 10mins have it up and running, wiring inclusive. The App is good but more functionality will add to the beauty. I like the simplicity of the design and the short cut function.

can it als be hard wired?

Asked by: Anonymous
Not to your router, it has to connect via wifi. If you mean power-wise, yes you can connect it to your furnaces power supply via a "C" wire which would connect to the "C" terminal on your furnaces circuit board. That will supply it with 24VAC, which is what it needs. It cannot run on Line voltage (120VAC). It will run on the battery without a "C" wire, but the display will only come on when you approach it. I ran a " C" wire to mine, I like it better always on.
