Rated 4 out of 5 by from SAVED US !! I bought 3 of these after we experienced 2 minor floods while building our house. After completing the build, we put one under the sink and two in the basement. Because this unit has an external water sensor (like a cable), I was able to have the unit inside with the cable-sensor outside. Unbeknownst to me, my sump-pump failed and 3 days later the ground water raised to a level that would have flooded my basement. At 9:45pm on a Saturday night this water sensor cable got wet from the rising water in the basement stairwell, sent my wife and I a message to our phones and alterted us to the problem. This gave us the time we needed to prevent the water raising to the floor level (about 1" more that would have EASILY happened overnight) and fix the problem. Nary a drop ended up inside our house, all thanks to the Lyric Wifi water detector. I'm probably going to go buy a couple more and find other vulnerable locations to protect (under fridge, dishwasher, etc). I can honestly say that this device saved me a ton of grief, money and probable renovations to a house under 2 years old.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works ok until it gets wet. Worked ok until I really needed it. The case is not waterproof and the board got wet and now no longer functions. Poor design, it would seem logical that it would function in wet conditions. Outside of warranty, so I will look for a better solution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good concept but too many things not done well I bought this 2 days ago and after running some tests decided to return it. The setup was ok and when tested with water it worked ok and sent the email alert after 1 minute. My main issue is that after the alert went (and I assume this is the same for losing Wi-Fi connection), the reset is extremely cumbersome and not at all acceptable for someone who is not regularly at their property (e.g. if renting from a distance with local support dealing with issues that arise). You have to disassemble the device, take out batteries and do a reset with a paperclip and even then it did not repair with Wi-Fi without a Bluetooth recoupling with my smartphone. The App was locked in Alert mode the whole time and no longer usable until that was all reset. Way too complicated!! This needs to be able to be reset from the App remotely as soon as you know the Alert had been dealt with!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constantly off line When it works it works well but we have had it give offline messages frequently. Sometimes it comes back online on its own and sometimes I have to remove and re-insert the batteries to reset it. We cannot trust this to work when needed so only one star.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea but needs improvement The idea is good - a water leak and freeze detector that notifies you phone or other mobile device when there is a problem Unfortunately, some of the implementation needs to be improved. First of all, the application for the Lyric works only with mobile devices. So you can’t use your desktop to set up or monitor the Lyric. Secondly, set-up and reset is a bit complicated. If a problem occurs, you need to find the Lyric, open it up and reset the device using a paper clip. If you happen to be away from home, the device is useless until you return. There needs to be a way to reset the device remotely. Thirdly, when the device does go offline, you don't know for some time and in the meantime, the device is useless. Some time ago, there was a server update and the device was offline for about a week, after which it needed to be reset. That is not exactly the 24/7 monitoring that we expect. Finally, when you get a warning through email, you need to log in to your account. Why is this necessary? You should be able to just click on the link in the email and be taken directly to the details.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great remote access I have updated the tech in my home. The Honeywell devices offer remote access to what's happening back home. I am using wifi in Europe and can check in on the house back in Canada. The only problem was getting my Android phone to link the water detector. Has to use a friend's Apple device. Honeywell knows its a problem. THEN FIX IT!!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working after 4 months Suddenly died after 4 months, tried resetting device and replacing batteries to no avail; completely unresponsive. Emailed Honeywell support, which replied with an unhelpful anemic one sentence suggestion of resetting the device or replacing it. They didn't bother to respond when asked how to replace it under warranty.

Exactly what kind of freezes does this detect?

Asked by: Phils
The installation manual page 14 states that the default temperature for a freezing alert is 0 degree centigrade. Also the phone app will allow you to change this setting and also provides a high temperature alert. Really like the 3 year battery life option, have two of them and an extension sense cable. Next one is going in the dishwasher area.

Est-ce que cet appareil a besoin d'une connection wi-fi? Est-ce que c'est possible de l'installer seulement dans un chalet par exemple où il y a un réseau cellulaire mais pas de Wi-fi? Merci et bonne journée!

Asked by: Patrice
Hi Patrice, Unfortunately the Honeywell Lyric WiFi Water Leak And Freeze Detector does require a WI-Fi network in order to communicate remotely with your phone . Hope this helps.

Is there any WiFi interference risk if I hang the alarm directly on the steel water tank via 3M 2-sided tape plastic hanging hook, which alarm screw-hole would hook on to?

Asked by: RoyalOrange
Hi Royal Orange! The steel water tank could provide interference to the Lyric WiFi Water Leak And Freeze Detector. If the steel water tank is in between the router and detector then this could impact the WiFi signal going to the detector. Place the detector directly into the steel water tank can drastically impact WiFi connection. Hope this helps!

Can alerts Lyric App be setup on 2 smartphones (I didn't see anything in instructions, other than issuing an "invite" to another person) ?

Asked by: RoyalOrange
Hi RoyalOrange! Yes this can be setup on two different smart phones, you only have to configure the thermostat on one of them. Have the original user open the Lyric app, press on menu tab, select manage users, click add user. They will get an E-mail invite to download the app, once they log in they will have full access to the thermostat.

Is the audible alarm triggered ONLY by the water sensor, or does the humidity sensor trigger the audible alarm as well as the email/text notification?

Asked by: RoyalOrange
Hello RoyalOrange! Yes, the Honeywell Lyric Wi-fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector does only offer the audible alarm when moisture is detected by one of the water sensors. However, you do have the ability to set up additional alerts for temperature and humidity levels. You will have the option to receive these alerts by email or push notifications. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Can I turn off the audible alarm and only use the mobile alert? The alarm would drive our dog crazy if I wasn’t home at the time.

Asked by: Dog whisperer
Hi Dog whisperer! Unfortunately there is no way to disable the audible alarm that comes from the Lyric Water Leak and Freeze Detector itself. You are only able to customize the alerts and notifications that you receive from the Lyric Application. I hope this was helpful! Have a great day!
